I just got my rebuilt head on about 100 miles ago and I was wondering how you're supposed to drive the car. So far I've been driving it easy, not letting it see too much boost at all. Today about around 100 was the first time I let it see much boost and that was maybe around 7-9 psi. I have all new valves and seals as well as all new upper engine gaskets on. How exactly shoud I drive the car and for how long? Thanks.

There is no break in required for a new head. Maybe check the torque on the headstuds if you don't feel safe leaving it alone.

Well, I'm not really talking about the head itself, mostly the gaskets, them conforming to their surfaces and such. My neighbor told me to give it about 200 miles, because he said he opened up his '67 Cobra right away after doing a head job and he blew his head gasket.

after my head was done i got in the boost right away, 10,000 miles later still running great, so your fine just check the headbolts happy boosting

Thanks, first hand advice is always the best advice. It's not that I didn't believe everyone else, it's just that I'm always a little worried about the "i heard from somebody that heard from somebody" advice and that doesn't really get me anywhere. But thanks for the help all.

I had to replace my headgasket with a cometic one and added ARP headstuds at the same time, so I do have first hand advice also. Your welcome for the help.

Like stated before, if you are insecure about it, just check torque on the head studs. This is a practice that will benefit you anyways, as you wouldn't want a stud coming out
