New gasket material

please tell me if this is a bad idea. i made gaskets for my throttle body and to block off the FAIV from the lid of a ..microwave safe plastic container. it's resistant to heat and becomes somewhat form fitting when warm, but doesn't loose its shape, so i thought it might work.the reason i did it was i having problems with erratic idle. i tried RTV(red stuff) new gaskets and stuff around the TB. i bought some torque screws from home depot to replace the stripped out and hard to remove/install screws for the lower throttle body but eventually my idle would go up and down again no matter what i did. i put the lid on my TB two months and problem hasn't resurfaced. any thoughts? has anyone done anything like this already? I've checked my home made gaskets since install and they haven't burned or cracked or anything, and better yet i installed them again and they still seal up.

Did you check to see if your idle problems were caused by the ISC motor?

i checked it according to the haynes manual. it seemed OK. me putting the gaskets in as described fixed the problem.

The FIAV can be a PITA...

Blocking that off helped alot too...

yeah i took it off many times before i got it right. the torque screws i bought help alot. Allen wrenches are easier to tighten down with than a phillips screwdriver

...i see you are impressed. i figured maybe somebody might be trying to figure out what the could use for a gasket, especially since nobody makes a gasket for the lower throttle body with the FAIV blocked off. plus it seems to be way stronger than any paper Fel Pro gasket I've used for the TB elbow and TB manifold gasket, and way cheaper anything better than paper.
