Awhile ago I really had no money to buy a whole new catback exhaust for my 97 N/T talon,so I just purchased a Injen muffler to give my car a nice tone and now Im trying to save up to buy a whole new system. I was thinking about DC catback and if I have enough money, DC headers as well. anyone that has ever ran with DC, does it make a huge difference?

Not really... It will have a different tone. You might notice alittle better response

If you go with a header back exhaust it should help alot..It also might make your car extremely loud, sine it's a n/a.. You could buy the header and have a muffler shop build the rest of the exhaust. It won't be name brand but will do the same job...Might also be cheaper that to purchase a header back exhaust...That's just my $.02..

Im buying a BBP Exhaust off ebay. 5 inch tip. I can let you know how it goes when I get it. I paid 115shipped.

Yeah, Im staying away from ebay exhausts for now on. I had trouble with them. But that would be a good idea to buy the headers and have someone build the rest of the exhaust.

thanks

Have you looked a Apexi Exhaust? They work great and have a great sound

I have the DC sports 4-2-1 header and Magnaflow exhaust. It definitely changes the sound but who you are determines whether you like it or not. Ive had people tell me its not bad and sorta deep. Ive had other people tell me it sounds crappy(the v8 and truck people mostly). Overall I like the combination I have and it did seem to give me a little extra power but nothing amazing. I was changing other things at the time so I couldnt really tell what it was. But, pretty much any basic header will give you about the same power. A long tube header would be a difference though but that can get expensive.

I have a video of it somewhere if you want, I can upload it.

A lot of people seem to like the ebay exhausts as well as the ebay headers, but thats up to you. If you are EVER planning on going turbo in the near future I would stay away from anything you will just remove at that time such as the header/expensive intake/and even exhaust since you would probably go bigger anyway.

Personally, I would save all my money for a turbo later(if your goals are eventually turbo) or just keep it the way it is now if you are a little low on cash. The header and exhaust do help a little but not enough to justify spending all of your extra money on it.

Buy the exhaust manifold and have a shop do the rest, it will be more then an ebay exhaust but less then a name brand exhaust. They all do the same job and there is very little difference between them.
There lots of reviews on ebay exhaust most of them good actually, but I can understand why you would want to stay away from them.

i might be getting a 96 gs and was looking to get an intake and exhaust. i will probably go with an ebay intake but can decide on an exhaust. my friend had an 98 gsx with an apexi n1 full exhaust no cat or mufflers and i liked the way that sounded. does anyone know how close the sound is between the 4g63 and 420a.

On my old 96 N/T Talon, I ran the DC 4-2-1 header, magnaflow high flow cat, and ebay catback exhaust. It was quite easy to put on, mainly due to me not wanting my stock one so I cut the whole thing off and the new one bolted right up. I bought the header for like 80 bucks used, painted it, and used it, and it was awesome, the color never even faded, it did flake a bit, but you really couldn't even tell too much, and still looked clean. The car sounded pretty decent, I'd recommend maybe a better muffler, but honestly it wasn't that bad at all, and with the scilencer in, it wasn't too far from stock if I remember correctly. It gave the car a nice little boost in power as well, but I also had a full AEM intake on it, but I'm sure you could expect the same results. :thumb:

I am running the megan racing exhaust and it gives you the same tone as the DC for a little cheaper. to be honest an aftermarket wont make a power difference on an N/T

to the OP... if you need to worry about smog then dont mess with the cat. name brand catbacks are way to over priced for a 5 hp gain. stay with that injen muffler that you have and get the rest of the catback done by a shop. make sure they do it with 2.5 inch pipes.

flowmaster is my muffler of choice and a cherry bomb glasspacked resonator to make the exhaust deeper and not sound rice..

Probably the best thing you can do is to search for some examples of exhaust sounds on youtube -- that way you can hear what it'll sound like if you got it for your car. And agreed on the lack of difference with exhaust... unless you have like turbo or something.

One plus though, is that if you like to drive in events, an exhaust will help you hear your car through your helmet. That's the main reason why I got mine.

And not too sure about your taste in brand, but for exhaust, I'd personally recommend something from HKS, Tanabe, the old Greddy stuff, or Fujitsubo just because they have a couple of exhausts that are not-super-ricey sounding, and they've been around for a long time. True they have super loud ones... but if you look through their lines, they have some semi-conservative ones as well. It's pretty cool being able to drive next to a cop without getting hassled :thumb: If anything, just make sure the exhaust has a resonator and doesn't look like a potato launcher :tease:
