ok..i bought my car and it had the BIGGEST can u will ever see in your life on it..sounded like a bumble bee crying for its mommy after catchin a beat down from mike tyson..so a buddy of mine had a borla muffler..claimed it was pretty expensive..but still sounds like a annoying fly..im looking for a deep but some what quiet exhaust..any suggestions...im re doing my car then selling it an di cant have something on it that is gonna drive someone away..so please help a brotha out

just get something on ebay, they are not too expensive. You can get Greddy style, Apexi style , Hks style etc. they all are pretty deep and great sounding. I found my tsudo muffler at a local shop for a good deal and it is nice and deep but kinda loud. If you do buy one on ebay make sure they include a silencer.

the greddy evo 2 is what your lookin 4, i just installed it on my car and when im idol i can bearly hear it. and when you start drivin it gets really deep, its not annoying at all u get used to how deep it is and after drivin with it for a while u forget its there. unless of course your racing then all hell comes out of the ass of your dsm. cheapest place to get it that ive found is www.hop-upracing.com i thinks that the site, if not just do a search for hop up racing :thumb: :dsm:

if you are just looking for a muffler, DON'T!!!

The stock silincers sound like complete crap, buzz and hiss. go to a shop (i like muffler man) and have them bend up pipe cat-back. it prolly won't be mandral bent, but who cares because you are just looking for a muffler right? make it 2.5" and have them put a short(er) glasspack on it right after the cat. one of the silver ones that don't slide on that you can see right through. don't put a resonator on it, make sure it's a glasspack as it will quiet through the entire RPM range. Get the can muffler with the slash tip on it that is stainless steel from advance auto parts that is 2.5" in with a 3.5" tip. it comes in a white box with black lettering.

i've got this exact setup on mine and it is wonderful.

shouldn't be more than $175-200 total

So a glasspack resonater, what does it have in it that would make it so quiet. Also if you use more than one will it make it quieter.

a glasspack has fiberglass in it. the inside has litle metal pererations in it that let the air go into the fiberglass and quiet it down a bit, but allow a lot of air to pass through it because the center is open an straight through. yes, more than one will make it quieter.

I also heard that over time the inner lining of the glass pack will all fly out your exhaust and then you will be left with an empty resonator. Is that true? Sorry for the questions but I need to quiet mine down quite a bit.

yes, glasspacks can "blow out" but it usually takes quite a while to do it, and a lot oh heat. as long as you have a cat, it should last a while. any muffler that uses fiberglass (A LOT) will over time wear out in this same mannor. I drove my DSM with just a glasspack for a year and nothing ever happened and it never got louder. I've had my current exhaust setup for 2 months now and it's still going strong.

i might add that a good compairison to adding 1 6" to 10" glasspack is almost just a quiet as putting a silencer in a canister muffler, only still with the good flow and deep sound. Keep in mind that's a canister muffler on a 2.5" exhaust cat-back with no resonators/silencers.
