okay so i ordered an aftermarket muffler because the old heat shield on my exhaust rusted so now i have to deal with hearing air come out of the gaping holes in my exhaust.

this is the one i ordered.

4 inch 4" Universal Stainless steel Exhaust Muffler N1 | eBay

i already have a cia and a header, so my question is, will this sound decent and non ricey if i was to just have an exhaust shop custom make me a cat back?
or should i get a high flow cat? does it really make that much of a difference?

i just dont want to be rolling around sounding like the pos hondas in my town.

thanks alot.

It should sound decent, but i prefer Straight Pipe no muffler that gives the Turbo Spool noise through the exhaust and not ricer at all. But this muffler should work fine.

He's got a 420a. Personally, I don't like the sound of too many 420a's regardless of the exhaust set-up. Nevertheless, it won't give you a very desirable sound with only an after market muffler. If I were you, I would just go with a cat-back with a resonator.

If I was him I would go with a stock rs, gs, or gst cat-back if you dont like the "racial term we are asked not to use" sound. But thats just my equation talking: loud = obnoxious = prick = compensating.

it wont sound bad i actually have one on my car and it sounds rather amazing. I bought the same one and i was a little afraid to put on because i thought the same thing but im going to take it off so i can straight pipe for the turbo spool :)

Me personally, I would have looked up sound clips on YouTube or elsewhere to get an idea of what the sound will be like. But I would gut the cat, have the shop installing the muffler Fab up a 2 1/2" cat back. The muffler I have, tsudo fireball, came on my car when I bought it. But my flex pipe was leaking. While having it put on I noticed crappy welding connecting the muffler. So I just had them Fab my exhaust there. Later I gutted my cat. I've heard nothing but good things about my exhaust. Clean deep tone up and down. Good luck with whichever avenue you pursue.

okay so i just got it installed about an hour ago.still burning the new off as we speak. I will get a video of it but you will have to forgive me because its coming from a blackberry. I think it sounds quite nice :)

B4 i had even thought about turboing my dsm i bought a Thermal cat back. I have a nice deep tone and no ricey sounds. Exhaust is 10 years old and still sounds as good 2day and the day i bought it. ## better off just buying a cat back vs a custom one imo. There are so many different ones out there.
