Well I am back on here cause after 2 weeks of no car I am starting to get pissed of trying to get around to work and school. Anyways 2 weeks ago my eclipse blew a head gasket. It also started having oil pressure issues on the stock gauge. It would drop like a rock over 3,000 rpm. Anyways should I take this engine out and rebuild it, or would you guys buy something like a jdm engine and just swap it in there. Looked around and have found no engines local. A somewhat plus on the engine that is in the car is that I just had the water pump and timing belt changed by a shop less than 500 miles ago. Also it has had a balance shaft delete. However the previous owner did not take the shaft out but seized it in place. So what would you guys do. Fix what I have or just buy another engine and swap the water pump and buy a new belt.

Start by getting a real oil pressure gauge, the stock one is as big a joke as the boost gauge.

I'm also going thru the same and I would say just rebuild what u have. Instead of jumping on a 6 bolt, I'm going to fully rebuild the engine with forged internals and a reworked head with also all new components. I think it would b more beneficial and less expensive in the long run

Then don't do anything until you know what your engine's actually doing.

And what's with the JDM engine obsession?

I think I need to tear down the engine. Problem is I have no time in between work and school. Have to get a ride to both so usually stuck on campus all day then work nights. It may just be in the keep it up for sale pile. Along with 2 other broken cars.

Nothing, just an option for a lower mileage engine,
