ok my engine blew up today. I had an oil change done at a local auto shop for 10 bucks figured it couldnt beat that oil alone is 13 so i got one done. I was driving in the fast line on the free way when i hear a ping noise from under the car sounds like the back end so i look at my gauges and see my oil pressure go down. So i move from the fast line to the slow lane. But by the time i do that i hear my engine making all kinds of noise. When i pull over to the side the car dies and i look under and there is a huge puddle of oil. So I feel under there and look at the bottom expecting to see a cracked block and i feel the oil pan and my oil drain plug is gone. Well i get oil and a new one and put it in praying to god it works and NO GO. So ill be talking to the shop tomorow but im not expecting them to do anything.

just want to know i dont have a huge budget. And i can ###### get a stock 4g63 for 400-500 i was wondering I can do the whole engine build myself and was kinda leaning towards that anyway.

so i wanted to see what your guys thoughts were. Sorry i feel like one of those stupid dsm owners that give them bad names but damn im mad X(

i ###### have about 700-800 for the build and i just replaced everything but the interals of the block itself.

yeah take a block and get it machined and all. Then get evo 9 pistons and reuse your 6 bolt rods, headgasket, arps...now for actually rebuilding it, if you do it yourself, check everything....bearing clearances etc.....then check them again.

slap everything together, start it up and beat it for 20miles and change the oil and then :hellyeah:

really? damn my cobalt it was take it easy for 5000 miles beat it for 20? damn kinda a waste of oil LOL thats the jew in me but whats the gain over .20 over 6 bolt pistions? if i get forged ones that is?

The shop owes you an engine.

This.

I'd go in fighting. Tell them you'll get your laywer if they don't fix this (even if you don't have a lawyer, usually this will give them some motivation to fix it). I wouldn't bite the bullet on this one even though you did buy an EXTREMELY cheap oil change. :notgood: Make them buy your motor and then the money they give you to get it installed use to build that baby up, then install it yourself.:thumb:

nope no good i talked to a laywer today for free just to see if it was something he could do. He first told me it was going to cost like 1000-1500 to fight for me. And that the chances of winning where slim. Because i could have tampered with it.. however i do need help with a semi cheap build that will hold more LOL thanks guys for the thoughts

^+1

I don't care what the lawyer says. The Shop doesn't know that.

" I've spoken to my lawyer. I made it about 10 miles from your shop and my engine blew up. Come to find out, my Oil Drain plug was missing and there was no oil in the car. I have pictures and obviously witness'. Either you fix it, or I cost you thousands in court costs."

They'll buckle.

Hell... give me the details, the date, and the number and I'LL call them.

But I have to agree. >> $10 oil change = Obvious issues.

worst part it didnt even need one i just wanted to spoil my car and this is what i get ahahahhahahahah im mad no i did pull that and everything above they told me it was my fault and i must of tampered with it

but ill deal with that on the side i need to know what i can do to build

i was thinking new oem 2g pistions 20over or evo 9 pistons one of the 2

and arp rod bolts

my question is if i get evo 9 pistion and rods will they work with a 6bolt crank or no

LOL and god yes i want to burn the place down and then shoot everyone that comes out LOL

i would have done nothing at that point but called the shop and make them tow it back to there. once you move your car or have it towed they can claim tampering. but if your car would have just stayed on the road with a puddle of oil under it only minutes from the shop, then there is no doubt. a place that does $10 oil changes is most likely not going to cover this and if they get threatened with enough legal action i bet they will shut down and relocate. sounds like a shady business.

If you are on a budget, just buy one on your local Craigslist or nearby. If you were to completely rebuild your motor, expect to pay more for labor than the actual parts. If you care about your car, sometimes doing your own oil change is a good idea. I've heard too many horror stories about jiffy lube f'in up people's rides.

Fixed it for ya! ROFL

nice LOL first off i got the oil change because it was cheaper then buying the oil. I have done tons of motors 4 bike motors and 5 car motos all inline 4s so this wont be anything out of my know how. But yea they are a run down place but i thought helping a small busisness and getting a cheap oil change would be cool. But yes if i really sued which wouldnt be a huge point gunna cost less then 1000 for parts for forged bottom end and nice topend to sue which would cost upwards of 2000-3000. They would just close down and re open

Might as well just rebuild it. If you buy a motor you still need to go through it in maintainance. You don't know what the previous guy did when you buy a motor, maybe he had $10 oil change before he sold it to you. I don't trust lube shop to change oil, they use the cheapest oil anyway so might as well buy synthetic oil and change it yourself.

LOL thats what really sucks i just did that to this motor. Id just done all gaskets new water pump, timing belt, head gasket cometic, arp head studs, new pulleys for the timing belt, oil pan gasket, oil pump gasket.

No. I'd get a set of forged pistons and use the 1g rods. Get ARP rod bolts, OEM Main bolts, ARP headstuds, new gaskets, timing belt. That's the route I'm going. I have it all in my garage, all machining done already, just needs assembly. I have about 1300 into the shortblock. If your on a tight budget, it'd be cheaper to buy a used engine and put it in.

The laws protecting businesses are pretty BS.

It took my mom a year and a half to only get 100,000 dollars out of company who sold her a malfunctioning hip which lead to her getting cancer and her to put more weight on her opposite hip causing her to have to get an additional hip replacement AND a knee replacement.

A guy I work at Wal-Mart with got injured at work, the doctor who inspected him said it was DEFIANTLY work related, myself and others went to court with him to verify that we did see him get injured there due to work related BS, Wal-Mart lawyers falsified legal documents and yet somehow they still won.

Story short... you aren't going to win and they know that.

ive done all those mods already just need bottom end built and yes im pretty sure im going built everything even rods

na im not getting new everything its been on the motor maybe like 30-40 miles max
