new clutch

hey i just got my fadanza 3.2 clutch today from maperformance. guys were nice enough to give me a free 2day shipping since they couldn't get it shipped the day i ordered it. now im home waiting on the mechanic to install it. he says its gonna take all day and it running 350... no more launches for me.. ill let you guys know how it drives.

I would defintely take it easy on the new clutch for 350-500 miles. some will disagree though. Im assuming you are having your flywheel resurfaced as well

wow the mechanics are only charging 350 for a clutchjob on a GSX? I went to 3 shops in my area to get a quote on how much it would be for them to take out my tranny (AWD) and see if my clutch was the problem (car wouldnt engage in any gear) and each shop quoted me around $500 + labor for anything they would have to replace, clutch, TOB, fork etc.

I find 350 a strange price unless they think its a FWD (I think it cost about that much on my GS-T).

I just bought some tools and did the job myself and saved a bunch. I also learned a lot doing it, and now I have air tools etc for any other jobs I might do. Might look into doing it yourself if you can stand having your car out of commission for a couple days

But really, I would double check that price, shops around my area charge $70/hr labor.

yea i will take it easy for about 600miles. and i wish i could do it my self. its just too bloody cold up here.. my dad always complains because he has like 20k+ worth of tool and i dont touch em but for the spring all work will b done my self. there way too much info on the site for me to be spending this kind of money... i could have bout my 255 and fpr with that. and yes i have a gsx... he my friend evo mechanic.. the evo has about 800hp untuned... total monster... no nos. he beat redbull (local red evo)

First, $350 is about what I charge (labor wise) on clutch jobs (as sidework).

Second, why does everyone claim something is untuned? 800hp untuned = big pile of broken stuff.
