I have a new check engine light Code I just had it checked it AutoZone earlier today because all of a sudden my radio / cd player won't turn on..

The code is - ECT sensor high input - this code just happened right after I Installed some gauges at this local shop.

Probable causes on the Autozone paper include:

  • Open or short circuit condition
  • Poor electrical connection
  • Faulty ECT Sensor

I'll be honest my radio/cd player isn't the newest but I'm pretty sure this is something that happened as a result of a bad electrical job, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I took a look at all the fuses today both underneath the hood & inside the car, and everything looked fine to my father & I.

I don't really think my ECT sensor went out a day and a half after I got the work done what do you guys think? I got some gauges installed on Friday and today's Sunday night when I'm posting this LOL.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Update:

Went back to the shop this morning & explained the situation to the owner. He himself checked some things on my car and found out that the CD player wasn't fully connected properly (little loose connection he said)

Although he fixed my cd player he kinda rushed the job and didn't put all the face plates on properly LOL (a/c plate thingy)

He also reset my CEL code / SRS and now my car is shifting into 4th gear again so I'm a happy camper for the moment :D

I'll have to check the CEL again at Autozone & see if it's throwing up the same code or just a code for my cat-delete.
