Hey guys, apologize ahead of time if this is the wrong place to post this, but it's sort of an install/question.
About to break off my stock rusted up exhaust and planning to put in this beauty.
3" DP, 3" tubing, cat, 3" magnaflow with a 4" tip.

Question is, how important is the grounding strap, it doesn't look like i'll be able to connect it anywhere, unless i weld it on.

Also, any tips on how to install this puppy successfully would be great, i'm having difficulty taking off the stock DP, since its so damn old..

Sound Clip!

You could probably use a sheet metal screw to ground the strap to the underbody, just be sure it doesn't come through the floor. If you do it, be sure the area the strap will be contacting is clean.

Just spray the downpipe with a lubricant beforehand. Previous day if you can.

That will REALLY help. I've done it before, and it makes a world of difference.

Good idea, so i should sand down the area aswell?

Sprayed the downpipe like crazy with PB Blast, the bolt looks cooked onto the DP... might need impact gun.

What is the point of a grounding strap? Even if the exhaust needs to be grounded don't the downpipe bolts take car of that?

I would keep it there. Don't quote me on it, but I think it's for the 02 sensor and it may read funny if it isn't connected. Besides, it can't be that hard to just put it back on there...

Did you get that from TLM tube? It looks just like what he sells. If so I would love some close up pics especially after its installed. The rear view as well.
I have been planning to get the same exhaust for weeks but his prices seem to be coming down even lower.

Yes i did, though i noticed a small flaw in this kit, though it's a small mistake it's keeping me from installing the kit like i'd hoped to by this weekend.
The hanger on the downpipe is on the left, it must be on the right in order to match up to the OEM hanger holder

let me know how that goes, Are you gonna contact them and get a new one or just hack it off and re weld it?
Other than that how are the bends? How does the welds on the flange look?

I'll find out in the morning. The welds look very good. I think I got a very well put together exhaust system if I dont say so myself :D hope I can get a reply by tomorrow on what I should do, hack it or send it back.... more to come!

I'll take more detailed photos tomorrow(camera died)

That's what its for.

Ok, problem solved, new DP will be shipped shortly, it seems a 1g FWD DP was shipped to me instead of a 2g AWD, mistakes happen, no hard feelings :)

Looking to having this setup in and running next week!
Stay tuned!

Does he expect the fwd dp to be sent back? That's a hell of a deal if you get to keep the fwd one.

I offered to send it back, since it was a human mistake, and i'm a fair person. :) Putting in exhaust tonight! Pictures will be up soon!

As promised, here are the pictures of the new exhaust..... it sounded beautiful when the car was up and running. (shorted the ECU i think when i cut the rear o2 sensor wires):(

I'll take more pictures once car is off the stands and up and running, wish me luck, new ECU should be here next week.

If you were to weld with the exhaust on the car would it fry the ecu? What if the grouding strap was disconnected? Thanks

By the way i have a magnaflow dual tip muffler like that one. What type of tip did you use cause i am looking for 2 of them.

Car is up and running!!! I will record a sound clip for you guys, it sounds phenomenal!!!!
Set off 2 car alarms, but that was like at 6500 rpm.

Feels like a completely different car, pulls ALOT harder, alot more responsive to the throttle!
Wondering if i should cut my old exhaust @ the cat to see how clogged it was?

do you by chance have a link to where you got the exhaust and prices and all? Sorry if I missed but looked a couple times through this thread
