Well like ad states just purchased this rare low mileage gem its a 97 gsx with 62k, when i accelerate the car has a violent shake, then separate from the shaking problem I got another issues when i slowly accelerate I hear a clicking in the rear and sometime even when i'm not turning, where do I start? I suspect its the drive shaft going bad but would like to know how to trouble shoot this, thanks any input will be great

is the shake coming through the steering wheel (side to side) or vibrating the car and not affecting steering? what speeds does it occur at? is it all the time while at speed, or only when accelerating, not coasting?

it sounds like driveshaft carrier bearings almost. clicking in the rear is probably a bad balljoint, sometimes a sway bar endlink or worn bushing.

i dont alot, havent been south, or anywhere in a while, haha. but the car is running now so i might start making some road trips. ever come up to spokane for raceway drags?

sorry for the thread muck, op. get back to us when you get things looked at

it happens after 60mph it comes n goes its very violent and on steering wheel nothing notciable but its shaking the whole car including my radar, so it happens every time after 60mph and sometimes it last the whole trip other times it comes but goes away.

Here are some suggestions for you to check (Some sound dumb, but are often overlooked):

  • Air pressure and condition of tires.
  • Inspect the lug nuts for proper torque.
  • Inspect the control arm linkages and ball joints (tie rods included).
  • Perhaps look into having a tire rotation and/or alignment completed.

2gmitsueclipse has some good advice. Cv joints are possible as well, but less likely in this case without other symptoms.

How cold is it in jersey right now? When I used to work at a tire shop my "buddies" put a bit of water in my tires one day. It would freeze and shake horribly, then melt and smooth out.
If the tires have been filled with a compressor that gets a bit of water in there each time, it could be at least part of the problem (tho unlikely)

ok so I lifed the car I found the last section of the drive shaft missing nuts/washers I did put them back but I still got the vibration coming from the rear it isn't coming from the steering wheel this is nuts
