well, first you gotta get about 100' or so o' chain and hook one end around their rear axle... then you gotta hook the other end o' it to the starting tree (or streetlight) and if you've done this properly they'll prolly get a good jump on you (more torque) and as soon as they hit the end of first gear (they should be able to run that out in 100 feet right?) you'll suddenly notice a tremendous pull on them, and hopefully you weren't on the same side as the light post, or as you're pulling on them, they might swing in to you...

Unfortunatly for doesn't put 5.0 in new mustangs... the big bad GT is a 4.6... but it's still a V8, and it's pretty spiffy, even if it is a ford. On a personal note, fords suck. I say this because I spent many many years learning how to work on vehicles by the necessity of helping my dad fix one of the fords that had broke AGAIN...
 
Damn there's a lot of hostility here! Jason, the guy was just stating his opinion, (you know, something this forum/thread is for?). You need to lighten up. But a couple pages back, somebody brought up a good point in that, Wasn't this thread supposed to be about neons?

As far as the mustang vs. whatever, there are way to many factors for anybody to generalize. Mustangs are bad ass cars but it just all depends. As far as remarkable upsets, I've seen a turbo'd civic hatch beat a dodge viper! And this was with about 2-3 dozen witnesses. Come on guys, fluke or not, suprises happen.

Even with the mustangs- I was riding around with a friend one night. He had a freakin 90 Beretta Indy. The only things he had done to the car was a jet chip, cone air filter, straight pipe, and a newer (96-98) ported throttle body from a Grand Am along with bigger injectors. And also that this car was an automatic. This whole night, this fox body hatchback mustang, complete with drag radials and everything was trying to get him to race. Finally we ended up side by side at a stop light. Then my friend beat him not once but TWICE. I talked to a couple friends of the mustang driver later and it turns out that one- the guy was just a really bad freakin driver, and two- his fuel pump was acting up. So it's like i said- circumstances.

Now this wasn't me driving. It wasn't even my car (I would never own a beretta). I'm not even friends with the guy any more. I HAVE NO REASON TO LIE ABOUT IT. But I was riding with him and it did happen, WHATEVER the circumstances may have been.

Now let me make clear that I have beaten V6 mustangs before but I would never even dream of challenging a V8. I understand that it's just not logically possible. But when I pick my battles, I pick them so things will go in my favor, not to get my ass handed to me. Then you have blood running down your leg later and everythings just gross.....ewww.... :barf:

Sorry about the length of this, but after reading all 4 pages, I think it needed to be said. :dsm:
 
At the drag strip I took an IROC ... circumstances whatever ... But I still beat him by 3/10s of a second ... This was stock except a short ram intake ... figure it out all you want but its a machine with tons of moving parts ... things dont work the best all the time ... it happens, people beat bigger cars ... the little guy can win in a fight sometimes ...

Nuff said ... no more bench racing ... Moderator please please!

What the hell are you talking about, I owned a 85 iroc with a 5 speed and my kid bros first car was a 87 iroc with a 5 speed,his was rare because it didn't have t-tops.

I looked at three posts above me and posted. I didn't know it was old and didn't care. Who the hell are you, the thread police?

it wasnt to you, i have a tendancy to quote the last post that was made when i post. it was more towards the guy who ressurected it. i can understand if an old topic that was still left somewhat unclear is ressurected, but when a really old topic is brought back, it really bugs me. especially ones that are pointless and off topic like this one. or old ones that are answered like there new. people need to check dates. and no im not a mod, or thread police as you call it.
