So i just bought a 95 gsx after getting an almost fair trade for my other eclipse..

its bone stock... i made a few orders, but i need to know what else to buy before anything gets put on..

Parts that ive ordered thus far,

HKS SSQ
GREDDY Profec B Spec II
Brembo Rotor Kit the rotors on the car are shot.
550 cc Injectors
Evo III Manifold
Walboro 255 Fuel Pump
FPR w/ wiring kit.
Big 16g turbo to replace my stock
Injen air filter & adapter kit.

So here are my questions...
Will there be any problems with the blowoff valve installation?

Will I have probs gettin this filter on even though i didnt get an intake pipe?

are these relatively good choices so far?

anyone who helps thanks so much..

im just not down to #### my car up.

You can't install the HKS SSQV on the stock upper intercooler pipe, you need a metal pipe with a flange for the HKS SSQV. You will need to recirculate it back into your intake pipe, which means you'll need their recirculation kit. Don't think of venting on that BOV without a GM MAF+MAFT.

You will need an install kit with a J-pipe for that 16G, it is not a bolt on turbo for the 2Gs.

You could have gone with a 190 fuel pump, you will never need the fuel flow of the 255 with that turbo. The 190 doesn't need a FPR.

Any plans for fuel control? Exhaust system? Did you get all the maintenance done? belts? fluids? filters?

what I/C Pipe would do the trick for the blow off valve? i saw the flange at extreme psi.. im gona order it next week.. (pardon the slowness)..

i didnt get an intake pipe yet..just the adapter and filter...im guessing thats gonna be my next move,, the upper intercooler piping and intake pipe? i will definately get the recirculation kit..

I changed all the spark plugs, and wires...i am changing the power steering belt this weekend...

Get the upper IC pipe with HKS flange from Dejon Tool (dejonpowerhouse.com) since they'll weld it on for you and have great pipes.

^^ awesome i see that... so now i just gotta work on MAF...it says to mount it right before the turbo though... yes / no?

im startin this crazy project come sunday....

If you're going to get a MAF and haven't bought the upper IC pipe yet, get Dejon Tool's Upper IC Pipe with Blow-Through Setup.. that'll put the MAF close to the throttle body and if you like, you can vent your BOV to the atmosphere without air mass calculation issues.

You will need to get a MAF-T to use with the GM MAF.

Make sure you check/change these before you start modifying your car:
1) NGK BPR6ES Plugs + wires
2) PCV Valve
3) Fuel Filter
4) Tranny/x-case/diff fluid
5) Coolant
6) Check and/or replace belts
7) Compression check
8) Oil change

silencer...are you sure..people have been strongly emphasizing to me to not to let the BOV vent to the atmosphere.. so im guessing now its ok? atleast for the time being without the recirculation kit..?

dgajre - as far as the compression check, whats a good rate for the engines?

i changed the wires...rotors, the clutch fluid, and got it an oil change..

the translator and MAF.. the ls28 maf is the type i want to look into correct?

I see so many people talking about "you can't/shouldn't" vent to atmosphere. There are so many nice blow off valves out there that vent to the atmosphere! Heres this thing, yeah you can do the GM MAF with MAF-T in a blow by configuration. You can also do a VPC which eliminates the MAF all together. OR... you can use one of these. This is a link to the HKS EIDS which compensates dramatic airflow meter signal fluctuations. For instance airflow meter-equipped vehicles that utilize atmosphere venting blow-off valves. I found one of these on ebay for $75 once. The type-k is for 4g63t engines. What ever you choose is a matter of your choice.

You are on the right track with the listed mods. Good luck with your new GSX! :thumb:

You can safely vent to the atmosphere with a GM MAF & MAF Translator in a blow-through setup. I wouldn't do it without this. As for compression, 133psi is the service limit, but I'd prefer to have 150psi minimum on a decent engine.

ok then theres no need at this point to get a recirculation kit... i follow because then the car is going to inaccurately put out fuel flow to airflow...hence the translator...

now io have to find some local shops in the area that do installations... i have tons of stuff here i dont want to screw up...

It was mentioned above, but kind of brushed over. If you do not know when the timing belt was replaced. Do that and while you are at it eliminate the balance shafts. A broken timing belt sucks.

Well.. to my surprise.. the balance shafts took quite a bit more work after just getting the old timing belt off. Plan on an entire day under the car. :) But yes, replace that timing belt, tensioner, tensioner pulley & idler pulley. $180 for the kit at SBR. Balance shaft elim kit is another $42.

yea the previous owner said the timing belt / water pump was changed..

im going to change those anyway..

my car idles rather high... a little over 1000 rpms.. maybe around 1.2 1.3

good or bad?

ty for your input seth...

im really nervous though...but im doin things slowly, and correctly...

by the 22nd i hope to have ordered the UIP with the flange for the SQV and have the belt and pump changed....

update:

my starter died...

anyone recommend where i can get a good one at an affordable price?

my big 16g came in....

i would say dsmtrader.com for a starter but since it's down right now maybe dealership? But since everyone is on the "to vent or not to vent" topic i figured i'd throw something new into the discussion, basically i've read everything you were plannin on buying and i didn't see anything having to do with fuel management. I would highly recommend it since you're planning on putting a fuel pump and bigger injectors in. You definitely need something to control those injectors. I have and S-afc 1, and i like it because it's more user friendly than the s-afc II, but everyone has their preferences. You could also go with an eprom ecu and a keydiver chip, or even dsmlink or a greddy emanage though with a 16g i doubt you'll anything as drastic as a standalone, but i don't know what your going for so might as well throw it in there. Wouldn't hurt to invest in a pocket logger and data cable while you're at it. Good luck with your new gsx and dont forget to have fun with it!

mark while i read that, thank you so much... the thing is... im not sure how to read an safc. i want to learn how to control the fuel mgmt. believe me.. pretty much the aim im goin for is nothing overly crazy.. i want to do over 260 - 270 hp without killin myself...anything better i can only hope time helps..

if u dont mind me askin...the safc one, can u give me an example how its more user friendly.... also would the fuel changes be ok until i buy somethin for fuel mgmt. personally around these parts, people dont care about "piggy backs" its all about having "it".. stuff do tune your car... im still new to much of the 4g63 as opposed to the 420a.. with a 16g (not sure if i asked), would a FPR be needed?

would it help if i had one... the starter itself from a dealership would be too much... maybe some place local like strauss or autozone...?

once the starter is fixed..i am going for change the wires and timing belt...ill probably do the alt. belt myself...

last thing since im rabling alot..

when the car was running... it hesitated alot when i stepped on the pedal.. im not sure how to take that..
by hesitation i mean, like the car would have issues if i went down all the way on the pedal from 3000 - 4500 rpms... any idea? at this point the car is still 100 % stock..

again everyone thanks for your help..ive seriously sat down with a notebook and took severe notes on havin a good running 4g63

^^ im gsx now.. i just updated my prof..imma check out the site now.

Ah.. I just ordered a bunch of stuff from that site. Took about two weeks to get it but it's a great deal for new parts.

since u have listed all those parts i would also lookin into
an exhaust system and downpipe since your forcing more intake air in combined with larger injectors u want the exhaust gas to exit faster and with less restriction
think of it this the more food u eat the more energy(dense air intake) u get from the minerals enzimes ect...... but after diguesting (engine combustion}u need to get ride of
the un wanted materials (exhaust gases hydro carbons noxs..ect ) so u can make more room for more food (dense air intake) if u cant take a shizzer and ## plumbing is all messed up do u still feel like u have energy to go do thing no.
i apologize for the lenghtlyness :talon:

It is not the 16g turbo that makes you need a FPR, it is the 255 fuel pump. The best way around not getting a FPR would be to sell that 255 pump and then buying a 190 pump.

its all good..i was planning on gettin the exhaust system done..the thing is on my downpipe can i go from 2.5 to 3.0 catback?

update:

after work today i checked that starter issue..

didnt realize how deep inside it was..i saw a loose wire...positive charge to be exact..it somehow loosened up..i threw a small peice of electrical tape on it...it started right up... sounds ghetto yes..but funds are low to fix anything at the moment till next week...

yes you can go from a 2.5in down pipe to a 3in exhaust you would need to get a test pipe that goes from 2.5''-3.0'' check dsmparts.com their prices are fairly good .Also i have a thermal R&D 3'' exhaust pm me if your interested

whats up guys!!!

just wanted to let everyone know whom have been helpin me through this that the car is working great...

im ordering my maf-t 2.02 (so i dont have to worry about getting an safc...) along with everything for the maf-t..

since i suck at life i was doing afc research and i dont know what everyone is even typing about in regards to reading it..my car will soon be making its final touches... before goin up to add in the performance parts....
