ok guys i just need some opinions please...i have a 98 gs-t spyder and its a daily driven street car. Right now I have a turbo back 3" exhaust, evo III 16g turbo, hard intake pipe, greddy rs bov, safc II, coilovers (not that it really matter for this thread) just to give you guys an idea. Now I'm basicly looking to upgrade fuel pump and injectors and tuning software in the future but before that I want to throw on a front mount intercooler kit just want some opinions on this kit :

Talon Eclipse 95-99 2G Short Route FMIC Kit intercooler:eBay Motors (item 280405055732 end time Jan-01-10 06:58:02 PST)

I'm not looking to get a real expensive kit, just something pretty decent and want to know what you guys think about this one. I'll be using my greddy bov instead of the one included with the kit by the way. please keep in mind im a college student on a budget who just throws his extra cash into his car to work it up as much as i can afford. let me know what you think!

For $400+ I would go with a Precision Intercooler which work awsome and for in my opinion is the best bang for the buck!

if its a true punishment racing kit....its a good deal... i bet if you emailed them you could get it even cheaper.

thats the same kit i have in mine and i love it go get it from punishment and im sure they will send it to you a little cheaper then that

Out of the 2 kits listed (the punishment racing one and the ssautochrome one) how were they to install? Pretty easy and straight forward or any mods required?

my punishment kit literally took me like 30 min to put on if that very easy stuff

Ah i'm so torn between the two...I mean I'm leaning toward the ssac one just because it's like $150 cheaper n both kits seem to have a decent amount of people saying they are great. Will I need to buy a bracket or make a bracket for the ssac kit or is it included as well like the punishment kit has?

It was relatively easy for me to install the ssac kit, i got my kit from www.vr-speed.com.
Shortest route, less pipes, less couplers, cleaner look, huge core. No complaints. :)

It seems like the ssac kit requires a lot of cutting around te radiator support and does not allow u to use ## oem foglights...I'd like to keep my oem foglights and I don't mind cutting the inside of my bumper but I'm a little uncomfortable cutting my metal radiator support. Is there any cutting involved with the punishment racing kit and can i use my oem foglights?

When I installed my SSAC kit, the only cutting we had to do is the LICP, but that's just because I have an o2 dump.

There's a tab on the top of the core for "extra support" I guess. I was trying to figure out how to make that fit with my hood latch assembly getting in the way...wound up just cutting it off and my FMIC hasn't fallen off yet. ROFL

There's really not that much cutting required. Just of the bumper cover...the core is massive.

You would have had to cut a triangle piece from the rad support area to run the short route UICP of the SSAC. Cutting this piece out took a bit of work because of the space constraints around it. The only thing you need to watch out for is the wires on the other side of the metal, but is not a problem if you take 2 seconds and move the harness.

I also had to cut a bit from my LICP to make it fit the way I wanted it, and the the bumper support/cover(yes, I still have my bumper support). The support didn't take long, but the cover took a while to make it fit perfectly.

There are very few kits out there that allow you to keep your fog lights, so do your research on here to find out which allow this.

vr speed factory one is dope....talked to the guy there a few days ago and he said hes gonna have a group buy on them in the next week. There only 280 right now for core, piping, and everythiing else so who knows what the group buy price will be

+1 for PR Kit. I have the punishment racing and there was not any cutting required. I did cut my main bumper because i wanted to put it back on the car; but is not necessary. I also wanted to reuse some of the black plastic ducting that came on the car to aid in air circulation to the radiator. I had to cut it some. Oh, one more note, I had to get some more piping made for my turbo to use the PR kit. The FP turbo I have goes out towards the passenger side ( not an issue if its "g" style turbo. Overall install on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being difficult; i'd give it a 5.
