I'm wanting to build a 2.3 stroker and this would be my first one I want atleast 600 hp it is going to be a drag car with some street driving in summer this is what I'm thinking of

1mm os valves
Manley springs
280 bc cams
L19 head bolts
Felpro hg
Wiseco 8.8 pistons
Eagle rods
Eagle crank
Arp main bolts
Crank scraper ?
Jmfabricatons drag racing intake manifold
Turbo from black_gst
HX35 & HX40’s+Custom Turbine Housing - DSM Classifieds
Was thinking of the HX40 with T4 twin scroll .84 A/R for Soldave
What you guys think about turbo or would u go with hx40 divided t3 if so which a/r what do you think of the crank scraper and would that head work with this set up I will be running e85 and adjustable cam gears thanks

My opinion is to definitely get better springs (Supertech Duals, Kiggly Beehives) and better cams (Kelford 280's or possibly 288's). That is if you plan on revving any higher than 7000. Also look into I-Beam rods. I'm running H-Beams right now with my stroker setup and really wish I would've gotten the extra peace of mind with I-Beams, had a local snap a regular H-Beam on his stroker and he was putting down a little over 500whp I believe.

What H beam was he running? I haven't seen anyone wreck an Eagle H beam... around here anyway. Doesn't surprise me as they are rated at 900/1000 HP Eagle Specialty Products, Inc.

Manley H-Beams, they claim to be good up to 700hp. Don't think he was making that much at the crank, he was auto though so it's hard telling.

7000 would be the max I rev and I was thinking bc only for idler and some street driving but I'll look into them will it work the head work with a stroker and not hit a piston

Was going to get eagle crank unless I can find a junk yard crack and with the 1mm os valves and cams would the valves clear the piston and not hit them when the car is running and which turbo to use from the first post and should I get a crank scraper or girdle

I cant say from experience but I can say this. I have standard valves and wiseco stroker 8.8:1cr pistons and before the final stretch of putting it all together, I clayed the piston tops to see when they might hit. I had MORE than 1/4" clearance

So it should work anybody have opinions on cometic mls hg

Make sure you get the block and head resurfaced with a good enough finish for it to seal (50RA I think it is). But O-ringing the head and deck, composite gasket, and L19's would do definitely the trick as well.

BTW, I have a Mitsu 4g64 crank that just needs to be cut. ;)

I am doing l19s. I would get the crank but I'm not starting the build for a lil while. IM saving up and slowly buying parts. thanks though and what about o-ringing? I'm not that far into to this motors our high hp builds

Sorry edited at work and kind of tired

I have no experience with o-ringing but it's what big HP guys do when regular headgaskets blow out. There is a lot of info around here though so don't let my crappy description be your base haha.

I'll look into it thanks. Any opinions on which a/r to get with the turbo? T4 .84 a/r or t3 .63 a/r? They are both divided and I will be making a divided manifold.

Great information so far guys, I'm about 80% ready for my build and and debating on going 2.3 stroker (sry for the thread jack). I have a great shape 6 bolt block and 2 sets of pistons. Need help on deciding whether to run the JE strokers on 1g rods or 2g piston setup tho :\ My car will be running fully ported E316G , speed density and Meth. Head will be fully upgraded minus valves. I am personally looking for a wide powerband and love the 2.3s impressive torque numbers. she will be a street car so 1g rods WILL suffice for my setup :)

Ya I decided a 2.3 also for the same reason and in my area it would kill any car out here. I think I'm gona run water to air intercooler and make it a sleeper. Turbo I think I decided to run t3 divided manifold hx40 6 blade with a .63 a/r exhaust.

Brane, those JE pistons, are they stroker pistons? A 4G63 block stroked to 100mm needs the wrist pin moved up in the piston otherwise a regular 2.0L piston will stick out the deck a bit.

I may be confused but your comment on running 2g pistons made me ask

I would go to a 2.1L stroker/destroker just to not do what so many have already done, and if I ever do a build, that's what I would do. It has an even higher possible rev range than a 2.0 (when done correctly). It would be sick to see more 2.1s out there.

Ifs and whens and your opinion really don't help him at all...

OP I would also spring for the HD's.

Ugh, I had a whole paragraph typed out and accidentally hit backspace. But yes Nherron, they are stroker pistons with the 22mm? dish. The previous owner forgot to leave out that fact, but I have a feeling he didn't know what they were.

So now I'm definitely sold on building a 2.3 stroker :) are there any cons besides a lowered redline? I was never the rev happy type anyways. With my FP2s, is there any reason why the 16g shouldn't hold peak boost from 2-2.5k to redline? *drools*

OP as far s a throttle body, there is a member on ebay who rebuilds and resells OEM TBs on ebay, if you like, I can PM you his email. Or if you just want an aftermarket, I have a BBK 62mm I won't be using..

Concerning O-ringing, I read up a little on this and consider this myself in order to safely run the higher comp Hyundai 43?cc head. Unless I'm mistaken, Oringing the head involves inserting a steel or iron ring around the combustion chambers on the head. Ill look more into this as well..I have a few more
