Need Transmission Electrical Help

My 95 Eagle Talon Tsi fwd automatic seems to be going into limp mode, but I can Shift it down into 2nd gear. I am not sure the exact problem is but I think that when the guy that I got the car off of did the engine and transmission swap he switched the transmission from manual to automatic he kept the original transmission wire harness on it instead of switching the harness to an automatic one. I took it to a local transmission company and he said that the plug was a 5 pong and the the automatic one is a 9 prong, but since I'm not great with wires or transmissions could this be the problem or is it a bad connection or what?

Check the TCU.

I just had it replaced.

it might be the wiring or a clutchpack. the clutchpack can be rebuilt for about 70 dollars at any local transmission shop due to it beeing chrysler. if its not the clutchpack call dsm graveyard and talk to john he can get you the corect wiring harness that you need for your automatic. dsm graveyard is located here in kalamazoo michigan. i have been working with them for a while now and they work with customers very well. probably get the new wire harness for like 50 dollars est. the number is 1-269-226-4463. there web site is thedsmgraveyard.com. you can probably do a trade with the old wire harness for an even cheaper price to keep the cost down.
