I bought this from a guy on here and need a few suggestions from those of you that know more than me.. :)

I had read that the water line sometimes needed modification with the hx35.. well thats not the prob with me. The problem I have is the clearence from the outlet to the intercooler...

It is sitting RIGHT over the center support.. there is clearence over the tranny mount.. not much but there is clearence...any suggestions on how to get this hooked up to the intercooler?? custom bent pipe im guessing....? Or is the manifold the wrong size to even make this turbo sit right for the instal??

HX35's never had a v-band holding the compressor cover on. You have a H1 of some sort.

You appear to have a T4-flanged turbine housing, and H1C's / HX35's never had a T4-flanged turbine housing to my knowledge. I honestly believe you have a H1E.


To solve your issue of compressor outlet fitment, loosen the v-band and clock the cover more toward the radiator, then slide a 2.5" 90* coupler over the outlet.

Well I guess thats what I get for buying and not asking others first..LOL what is the hp on those? 400-500 max?

This is a stupid question but have to ask.. My old turbo was coolant and oil cooled.. I have read about people sealing off the water ports and what not.. would it hurt at all if I was just to loop the in and the out together with a hose? Seems it would work fine but want opinions...

The tag on the compressor cover should tell you exactly what it is- that eliminates a lot of guesswork. Once we know what it is I'll be able to give you a better idea of it's potential.
 
It had the internal wastegate but yet has been welded shut and the hotside has been welded as well for external wastegate use only..

So Justin what kind of hp am I looking at with this turbo sir? Wont be pushing more than 20psi until I am able to upgrade the lower end... the cams will be 264/272....
 
quick question.. I just finished making a oil drail line for the H1E using the 2g return line... my question is about the oil feed line... runnig from the oil filter sandwich plate will work jsut fine wont it?? or must it run from the stock location??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the Holset turbo's require a -10an or larger return line to properly drain the CHRA?

You are correct....and a 2G drain is much larger than a -10AN. Just be careful you don't allow the hose to kink in any way and you'll be fine.

from what i have read 10-12.. however the 2g is the largest of the drain lines and will work with no problems.. Justin has even modified one for a customer of his.. I looked around all the forms and saw his post along with many others.. thats why i feel comfortable with what I have made..

Just not sure about the feed line...

Oil feed for the H1E.. I have read alot of posts on her about the size of restrictor to use ect.

There is alot of talk about the shaft balance or something. Heres my question. I will be feeding the oil ffrom the OFH as per Justins suggestion and not the sandwitch plate I have installed. With this said I have seen a few different size restrictor sizes suggested.

If it is running from the stock location that fed a t25/t28, what size restrictor size would I need for the H1E so its not over fed and blow seals.. .75 or .100??

Any suggestions and help would be nice. I do not want to blow my turbo for feeding it the wrong amount of oil in psi...

I also read on another forum that the 4g63 stock oil housing feed is ok for the H1E without a restrictor... not sure what is right..

Depending on your oil pressure and the size of your oil drain you may not need a restrictor at all.

There is more information out there on Holset oiling than any other turbo brand if you search a little. In the event that you're wrong in either direction, it's much better to over-oil the turbo than it is to over-restrict it as over-oiling doesn't really put the turbo in a situation where wheel damage or scoring of the shaft and journals can occur.

The drain is a modified 2g drain.. The oil pressure should be stock out of the filter housing not sure what the stock pressure is.. guess i should hook up a direct gauge and check it.. what would you suggest for idle and wot for pressure for the holset?

The guy i bought the turbo said he ran it from the head but have read taht this type of turbo should be run off the housing even suggested by you in a previous post..
