ok i live in washington and i blew my motor by spinning the timming belt so i plan on a rebuild when i get the money. about $4000 i can spend. here is what i will get. what i am asking is tell me if this set up will be safe to run 400whp safely. car is a 1991 gsx eclipse awd and has 150k on chassie.

slowboyracing stg 1 2.0l longblock race motor.
slowboyracing g50 50trim, turbo.
850cc rc injectors.
walbro 255lph fuel pump.
ugeo wideband 02, monitor air/fuel.
gauges are boost,a/f,oil pressure.
10mm sparkplug wires.
manual boost controller.
xspower 10x28x3 inch fmic w/ 2.5inch piping.
3inch hard shortram intake.
gm maf-t 3inch maft, tuning injector size and running gm maf.
3 inch race exhaust turbo back, w, tube equal lenth headers.

There are a ton of threads on people wanting 400hp. It can be achieved a combination of ways. There is no need to get a SBR longblock race motor. Just put a good set of rods/pistons in your car with some ARP hardware and a good set of springs and 272 cams in the head and you will have just as good of a motor at a fraction of the cost. If you are going to stick with an MHI housing turbo I would go with an FP race manifold instead of a tubular manifold. In the long run it will be better for everyday street use and has almost the same performance advantages. Other than that your list looks good. I would maybe go with something a little bigger than 850cc injectors and get the new version of DSMLink which will save you money on not having to get a MAFT setup. The only other thing I really see missing off your list is a good clutch setup and an AFPR.

Yes, those parts will support 400 WHP with the proper tune.

And I also agree with Adam's recommendations above.

thanks for the imput its just that no one in washington wants to build my car for very cheap and sbr said they can get me a race motor for 4gs at most for that power range. and i just put a stock replacement clutch in so i will have to run low low boost.

So are you going to shoot for 400 WHP or keep the boost low?

Are amount of decent power will burn up a stock replacement clutch in no time flat.

im want 400whp, i will be upgrading the clutch but i need to find someone to build my engine for decently cheap and i wanted apr head studs, apr rod bolts, balanced crank, crossdrilled, topline rebuild kit. stock cams

You probably already know this, but you're going to spend almost all your money on an engine build if you're going for a ready-to-drop-in motor from a vendor. If I were you I'd post in your regional forum and see if anyone is willing to lend you a hand, and that way you not only get it together for a much more reasonable cost, but you have the knowledge to hopefully do it yourself in the future. That's what I'm planning to do myself. :] Good luck on the build. - :dsm: Ryan

When the timing went, how much damage did it cause?

If it just bent a few valves, and you're bottom end wasn't tired to begin with, then you should just have the head rebuilt. A stock bottom end will hold 400 WHP just fine, so there's no definite need to have it rebuilt.

Not sure if anyone else caught this but, if you get a wideband you will not need a regular a/f gauge. Just mentioning that so you don't get a gauge you don't need. You could possibly get an EGT gauge if you wanted to monitor your motor some more.
