Hey, I just got my first DSM! I was wondering which waxing products work best out there. I'm trying to make this baby shine and impress a couple off people LOL. Anyone out there have any experience with certain products? Please let me know what you guys think, Any help is greatly Appreciated. THANKS!:hellyeah:

Meguiars by far. Clay bar of your choice, then clay bar, and then clay bar a lil more. :D. then Meguiars NXT 2.0 liquid wax. Most of the body and detailing shops I sell to at work swear by the NXT. A little goes a long way as well. I get several waxes from the one bottle. Make sure you have a huge pile of microfiber towels as well. (My car has its own loads of laundry :D )

Some Mother's products I like better and some Meguiar's products I like better. You just have to see what works best for you. That is when you are talking about off the shelf stuff. I get access to stuff through Automotive Finishes. They carry a company called Wizard's Detailling Products, which most of the body shops use. That stuff is amazing, but not always worth the extra money IMO. To be completely honest, you can make any car look great with a litttle elbow grease and some patience!

But what the hell do I know. . . . my car is in primer LOL!!!!!

It's kinda like underwear, boxers or briefs? I prefer 3m products but then again sometimes I don'i use underwear...:idontknow:

Nice... Haha. I use whatever is on sale when I need it... Seems to work for me.

I've used the ICE, NXT, Turtle wax, Mothers, Meguiar's, etc. Its all the same shit IMO.

Now the car shampoo from Meguiar's (IIRC) works wonders.

Zaino. Used it once and will never go back!

Here's a few cars I've detailed using the Zaino products.

1. 1995 Ford Mustang
2. 1989 Shelby CSX (which I kid you not used to be a pinkish color!)
3. 2001 GMC 2500HD
4. 1995 Dodge Neon that was $300. The hood detail was from the Neon as well.

Love this stuff!

That Zaino has so many different products and seems difficult and time consuming to use!
Meguiars has one or two products i use at once, and it has nearly as good protection as the Zaino and its half the price. And Ive Used 3M but it works best with a buffer and detailing tools!

Dont get me wrong the Zaino leaves a crazy amazing shine, for the ease and price Meguiars at a comparable finish, I for now would stick with the Meguiars.

For the cars above.. I used the Clay bar, then the polish, then Z-IAO, then did a spray detailer with a microfiber cloth to top it off.

Dang thanks guys! So it seems like Meguiars is the winner LOL, ill look into that brand a little more especially the little step by step one explained by Purple haha. And that zaino stuff looks amazing too but sounds a bit expensive ain't it? I mean I'm trying to impress but holy crap LOL that looks like you'll slide right off the hood if you sit on it! I do understand we need to have microfiber no matter what right? otherwise there will be fuzzy stuff all over. Hmm, well thanks a lot guys I wasn't expecting this many replies LOL but I appreciate every each and one of them!

I do two coats of wax personally. Start with Meguire's Cleaner Wax. That gets all the nastys off the paint that hand washing couldn't. Then I move to Meguire's Gold Class Carnuba Wax. Car looks great when I'm done, and I can go about two weeks before I have to wax again.

I have been using Autoglym High Definition Wax for the last year or so. I also have a lot of other products from both Mothers and Meguiars that I like to use. I would recomend that you check out autogeek.net there is tons of very good information on this site, I learned a lot about detailing a car from them.

^ i love how the arrow is pointing right at the car LOL. and you cant go wrong with mothers or McGuires products

Love how the arrow is pointing right at the arrow that... oh nevermind. :p

Definitely don't skimp on the microfiber. And get the big bag. LOL Let us know what you decide to go with & take pics!

Beautiful work talongirl. I love to detail. Out of curiosity, approx. what do you usually charge? Here's another with Meguiars...

P.S. Are there really three wildberries in this short thread?!? We must love to wax. They all look great. and the primer looks very well primered. :sneaky: what color is it going to be?

I've always used the zymol wax but in my opinion it all starts with the wash most waxes have the same ingredients but making sure everything is clean and spot free makes a big difference

I'm going to attempt the first wax this weekend. I'm gonna go with the Mothers step 1, 2 and 3 that we sell at my job to see how it works out. Hopefully it comes out nice LOL I'll keep you guys updated and put some pics up! Thanks for your inputs guys!

Thanks! Well the moostang is my car... But for the others I kinda have a trade deal going. He does some fabrication work and I detail his cars, since he says he hates cleaning them. LOL So it's been working out alright.

I've *thought* about getting more serious about it... since don't got back to work until September.. but never came up with a figure.

I used the clay bar as soon as I got my Eclipse and the cleaner wax that came with it. Now I use the Meguiars Carnuba wax and it comes out real good.

If u've never waxed the car before why don't u just clay bar it instead? You'll save money and it'll probably come out better. The surface will be a LOT smoother.

Wash, clay bar, wax.

If your car sits outside, I would recommend Collinite 845. Its durability is unbelievable. For a nice deep shine, I would go with Meguiars NXT paste wax. Lasts a while but not as long as Collinite 845.
