Alright for those who are serious about clean cars. After you wash your car and are in the process of waxing it sprinkle a little corn starch on the dry wax before you buff it off, it makes it so it leaves no annoying swirl marks on the hood or anything. Just a little something to help out all us neat frreaks

haha dont worry i understand, but i wouldnt go posting stuff to go f' up everyones car, not much dont go crazy with the stuff, very very light sprinkle, NOT like a coating, maybe like 2 or 3 table spoons for the hood i am guesstamating, if that helps any

There is wax stripper out there.

Yeah that wax stripper your talking about is dish soap, will take the wax right off. Try it and then try the whole corn starch thing i swear it works

just go to a carwash, if the wax was that cheap itll come right off

wont the corn starch act like sand and grind at ## paint?

To get rid of swirl marks..... use a clean cloth. I use two or three different terry cloths per waxing. I use Meguiars wax, never had a problem with swirling.

i use microfiber cloths from walmart, like 2.18 a piece for a 12" x12 " cloth, but damn do those things clean. for a completely re-wax cleaning of your car:

mix 2-3 tablespoons in a gallon of water and use a spray bottle and spray down your car
let it sit for about 10 minutes in the shade on a cool day, then hose the car down getting all the soap off. there should be no wax left on the car. then use some car wash soap and clean the dirty areas around the wheels and doors etc. pull out rubbing compound and hit all the scratches and parts you couldn't;t clean with the soap. then whip out the car wash, Meggiurs's is great, i prefer turtle wax, the solid one and I like to use the microfiber cloth, put some paste on the cloth and wax up the car with one towel, then use 1 town for the top hood and rear one for the right and one for the left. you will have a great shine.

Meh,

Strip > Clay bar >a good Polish > a good Sealant > a good wax = sex

microfiber is good, but a PC is much better

if you have troubles waxing or want to save time ... get a buffer... theres a 25 dollar ryobi one at home depot....

and dont use anything but turtle wax or meguirs (just to be safe)... theyre good brands and won't look like crap ( you can even buy some cheap meguirs from walmart for like 5 bucks)

Meguiars is a great product company. I have been using Meguiar's Gold Class wax for years now and just switched to Meguiar's NXT wax. I do not notice much difference in overall shine or durability, but I think it is a little easier to remove.

Cybereye, what is a PC? Why would you chose that over a microfiber?

Corn starch? I never heard of that one before. I think I will skip on that because I guess I don't understand why removing wax would leave swirl marks anyways. Using a nice, clean microfiber towel should not leave any swirl marks. But can you please explain this? I am interested.

Also cheap wax will not leave swirl marks. If it contains an abrasive and if improperly used, then it will leave swirl marks. Rubbing compound is rough on paint. Bob123131, try using a light swirl removal compound (Meguiars makes a good one) followed by a paint cleaner then wax. The paint cleaner will act as a polish and it will also remove any light scratches that the swirl removal compound left behind.

1. Meguiar's ScratchX
2. Meguiar's Deep Crystal System Paint Cleaner
3. Your favorite wax

Used in that order it should remove the swirls that the rubbing compound left. Good luck. Also when you are using a wax, polish, or any sort of polish/compound on your paint make sure to move the pad in a line rather then circles. Does that make sense? Imagine you driving down the street and think about how the outside air is hitting your car. Lets use the hood for example. The outside air will hit the front of the hood toward the bumper and flow in a straight line to the windshield. When you are using the pad to polish your vehicle then, follow the straight line technique over all panels. Running the pad in circles over the panels will leave nasty scratch marks if any abrasive is trapped in the pad (road/rail dust or anything).

you can go out and spend money but like everyone on this site saving money is like their job so it was just something that you could do cheap that really does help and unless yoiur cornstarch is sand its not going to strach anything

dont take this the wrong way but if you get swirl marks from waxing
1- you are using to much product on one area
2-you are letting it sit on the car way to long

pointers
1- use 3m paste wax
2-clean your applicator wit hot water
3-get the applicator damp
4- do one panel at a time (the hood and roof cut into 4 individual sections)
5- wipe off with microfiber rages

or
1- you can use your corn starch
