Need Pricing Info and Ideas

My friend is selling his 1998 GSX. It's red, has 121k miles. Interior is perfect, and the exterior is just as flawless. The transmission, and clutch has recently been replaced. Everything about the car is in good condition, except it has a blown motor. The oil pump went out and the motor siezed.... as far as I know. I haven't had the chance to rip into it cause it isn't my car yet, but anyways what do you think a fair price to offer is?

Next question is I'll probably need a turbo, and a complete motor... right now all the plumbing is stock... aka exaust side, and intake only has a K&N FIPK and a Greddy BOV... I don't have a huge budget, but am willing to put down the money needed to get a good setup.

My goals are about 350hp at the crank... in the long term... obviously i'm not gonna get it with the stuff I have listed below... later on I'll get the turbo back exaust components, intercooler upgrade, and what not.

Any recommendations on motor?
I'm thinking a fresh 6bolt, and evo3 16g turbo, manual boost control, while i'm installing all this.. probably get the 550cc injectors... 255lph fuel pump, and undecided on the fuel management manipulation... i'll probably also install egt sensor, boost guage... sad it didn't have one already.... and oil pressure... for obvious reasons...

when i get the car i don't plan on beating the crap outta it... i wanna break the motor in right, and just be able to drive the car for a few months till I can build up some money. I was planning on running like 12psi during break in... real low boost for the turbo, and the car will probably be a dog but that's ok...

I haven't really gone into depth what all I'm going to do but that's just some rough ideas on some of the major components...

If anyone has any good experiences or recomendations on a quality build up without breaking the bank would be greatly appreciated... Best bang for the buck pretty much.

Hey i bought my 95 gsx for 5200$ last year which was a great deal i thought. it looked great had 100k on the motor . bov, k@n. and a new clutch and flywheel. Pretty similiar to yours except the blown motor part. I would say since a new engine will cost you around 1500 hundred plus 500 for installation, if you werent going to do it yourself, then around 3500 sounds about right, but thats more for a 95. But since yours is a 98, so hopefully the body, leather, and paint is probably in better condition then mine, you could probably offer 4 to 5,000. That sounds pretty good to me. I'm not to sure, just estimating.DSM's are great if you want alot of power for low cost, but reliability power is alaways the issue here. Have with it.
