Okay, to start off I want to give a little background info on my car. When I was 16 I bought my first car a 1994 Eagle Talon N/T because I couldn't afford a Mustang. The N/T talon just didn't have enough power for me so I begin a year long search for turbo donar car. I bought a donar car a 1991 Plymouth Laser Turbo FWD for $600 and trailed it from New Brunswick to NS. The motor had about 360,000Kms on it; had sat around for abut 2 years but dropped a battery in it and it started. We didn't hear any rod knock so I bought the car. I knew the car had a hard life when the previous owner said "I beat a dodge stealth twin turbo with this car, its ####in fast." Last summer my father and I swapped my engine out for the donar turbo engine. We took it out for a test drive ran shity until we cleaned out the dirt and rust in the fuel rail and injectors. Around September the oil light kept commoning on and the car can't hold oil pressure at a stoplight; needs the crank resurfaced and new bearings in the bottom end. I'm 17 now and still work mininum wage so money's a problem. The pistons are also worn, needs new oil pump, tensonier, timing sprockets, lifters, knock sensor, and full headgasket kit .I got quotes from a local machine shop; $150 to cut the crank and $150 to bore the block out.

The Problem too many rebuild options...need insight on more options or ones listed:

1. Say F-it and buy a JDM engine; costs between $1000-$2500 on ebay.

2. Build up my non-turbo 7-bolt engine; buy forged pistons and used 7-bolt rods. Then swap over all the turbo gear. How does the 7-bolt n/t engine respond to boost?

3. Fix my turbo 6-bolt engine. Use an ebay topline rebuild kit costs around 300-400 US. Or buy a full headgasket kit from one of the DSM tuners vendors then forged or 2g pistons. Then address the rest of the problems new oil pump, tensonier, timing sprockets, lifters, knock sensor. What I could also do is swap the 7-bolt non turbo head over and use those lifters.

Opinions?

What i would do is keep the 7 bolt engine and rebuild that...

Find yourself a good set of EVO 9 Pistons/Rods and throw them in. They can handle 400-500whp well but the best thing is the Pistons, Forged, Teflon Coated, Higher Compression & lighter than 2g pistons..
