Okay, I'm not sure if this is 100% the proper forum to post this in, but the BOV is turbo specific, right?

Just (last weekend) bought a 95 GS-T, and the previous owner had the BOV venting to atmosphere. While this is my first turbo, I have been around long enough to know that this is bad. So I want to go ahead and recirculate it, like a good DSMer.

The guy had an aftermarket BOV on the car. I'm not sure what brand it is, but it has (if I understand correctly -- this is my first turbo) a blitz-style flange that is designed to vent to atmo (and loudly, at that).

After more research, I found that I need to get a new flange designed for recirculating. The thing is, my dad works at a machine shop, and he could make me one in a couple of hours for free (meaning less expensive and faster turnaround than eBay), but he would need the old flange to get the measurements right. Would it hurt the car to drive it around without the existing venting flange while dad makes a new one?

I wouldn't think so. That ridiculous flange appears to do nothing but amplify the sound of air pressure being released as if it's some type of musical instrument.

Valve looks like a Blitz Dual Drive unit if you're lucky enough to find recirc flange dimensions online.

That's what I thought, but I'm just not super familiar with the details of turbocharged engines (or any sort of forced induction). I know how they work, but I don't know how[\i] they work, if you know what I mean.

Thanks for the help. I'll get a new record flange made right away. :). I'm frustrated as hell with my car *phsh-ing everywhere. I have to accelerate like a grandma if I want to avoid it.

Looks like the base of the flange is flat judging by what I'm seeing here on this photo of the valve with the optional filter installed:

Should be easy enough to fab a flat flange with a recirc nipple that just bolts right on. :thumb:

Just as a heads up; even a stock recirculated BOV is going to make that sound, granted it won't be nearly as loud.
