i need to get a hold of a logger and didnt know whether to go back with the pocketlogger or to get the mmcd. i had the pocketlogger before and it worked great. i heard that the mmcd has a newer version out that has more functions. i need some input on this decision. mmcd or pocket logger? price which cheaper. i still need to get a palm too right.

They sell pocket loggers on ebay w/ info, palm pilot, and plug for like 85 bux.

you can find a palm IIIc on ebay for like 40 bucks, and then the cable for 10. mmcd is free software, so your looking at 50 bucks. mmcd version 1.8g is great, I love it, and with all the work that cbatters (3si.org forum user) has done with his kit, it would be worth buying that if you wanted to be able to log speed, mpg, boost, wideband o2, egt's, and a LOT more. he says, and I agree with him, that he now thinks that mmcd with his kit walks circles around pocketlogger. even the free version is helpful, and cbatters posted most of how he did everything in his thread, so if you wanted to you could put together your own kit with only the things you need. The dx version does come with some analog gauges or something though...what else is nice is that even though all this is designed for 3/s' its completely compatable with dsm's. How compatable you ask? theres a little option in the preferences that says car: 3s and you click on that, and what are your options? 3s, and DSM. makes things very easy, and since the only differences are ignition timing, it doesn't really matter anyways.

Keep in mind you need the HOTSYNC serial cable for whatever palm you buy. That will be an added expense maybe $15 to $30. You will also need a logger cable for a 1g that can be had on Ebay for between $15 to $40. If your looking to buy a palm just for logging, I have had great success with the Palm IIIc color units. They use Lith/ION rechargable batteries that last longer then "AAA" batteries. MMCd ver 1.8g does a great job of logging for a 1g, for a free program. I have a Tech link here on tuners that allows you to download the MMCd software, and even the PALM 4.0 OS upgrade, as well as other useful programs like CAPS.

Good luck,

Brad
