Need help with transfer case

I have a 91 tsi awd and I cant get the transfer case on, Im not strong enough to support it and push it onto the tranny at the same time(tranny is auto) I tried a floor jack but thats not working either, I can't position the transfer case correctly when its on the jack.

If anyone has an "easy" way of doing it please let me know I've been trying to get this engine swap done for 5 months and I am almost done.

Buy some beer for a friend or relative. Invite them over and put them to work. Me and my buddy got it up there with no problems. Now are you using the same trans and transfer case or did you get anything new?

mine went on easy .. just slide the driveshaft into it and then raise the case and the shaft up. Line it up as best you can and just wiggle it and rotate it back and forth ... it'll go right in. If you need to get a jackstand and once you raise the driveshaft and case up put teh jackstand under the driveshaft to help with the weight a little.

That's about all you can do. It just slides on....so you're going to have to kick its ass until it slides in.

i just did mine tonight.. with two of us it was just fine. we had to turn the rear wheels to get the driveshaft slide in and but other than that it slid right on. i got some other beef with it.. i'm not sure if the fluid is supposed to poor out the back of it all over the driveshaft.. i know some is supposed to come out but i figured it would stop.. i just replaced it i hope the seals aren't bad again.. which caused my other one to seize. :thumbdown

You should be alright. When I took mine out I accidentally let the driveshaft end kind of fall and all the fluid poured out and I had no problems with mine ever.

sweet thanks. it just sucks replacing some thing "new" and then thinking it's got bad seals as well. just pisses me off i guess. i'll be watching this one close. and checking fluid all the time.

I know I just got a used trans and in the process of getting it all back together and hoping that everything works the way it is supposed to.
