Hey guys im working on a 2g 95 awd talon tsi....well heres the problem the Car came to me and it ran like ass and the trans was all messed up and the owner said it would only go 30mph and thats it... so i pulled the trans and motor out and to redo the whole motor and got a new trans for him...

Well when i pulled the trans it had a 1g awd trans with a 1g torque converter and flex plate some wiring was cut and taped that goes to the trans....

so I look at the new trans and its the right one for the car and the torque converter was way bigger on the new trans than the old 1g that was in it which that is right the 2g's have a way bigger converter than 1gs, so i call around for a 2g flex plate because the 1g 7bolt was way to small...

but this is my question i got it all and put together the motor and trans that is..... its in the car bolted up and i put the tcase on and other parts cranked it a couple of times and turns good so then i put the starter in it and i go to turn it and it started making a grinding noise the starter and torque converter where making the noise some how touching and im sure the i had the torque converter all the way in and so i pulled the starter out and no more noise..

The starter is the same starter that was used with the 1g trans and im not sure if thats the problem and the starter and spacer that is between the trans and motor stayed as well i did not change it ... so what do you guys think the problem is also im not sure if the flex plate is on the right way i couldnt find nothing on it which way it goes on and please help i going to be pissed if i have to pull that damn thing back out...

so you have a 2g awd auto trans in there now? the starters are all the same exept for the auto non turbo 1g's. did you install the crank bushing? is the crank bushing in there correctly?
