Need help with first log on new turbo

IMO you should have more timing. I dont know if your knocking or not, but you should probably see closer to 20+* of timing. Im pretty sure(I know I shouldnt guess) that the very high 02s like that indicate you are rich.

Got back from the shop that installed my turbo yesterday and found out that the slow spoolup problem was caused by the flapper not closing completely. Fixed that and now the sucker creeps up to 20 psi before redline and I have to let go. Guess I have to solve that before making another pull.

Btw, Does anyone know how to tune for the lower fuel trim for 2g? I read all the posts about it including Kyle's but I kinda confused. Some said that I should only look at the Long term fuel trim and tune accordingly but some said i should add up the long term and short term trims, for example if long = -2 short = 6 then it's 4 and I should increase the fuel. But sometimes the difference is so huge like I saw my long term stayed at 1 but the short term went all the way down to -11 . Anyone have more detailed info. on this? I'll appreciate any input you have. Thanks.

LTFT's are based on STFT's. If your seeing this;

STFT: -11
LTFT: 1

The LTFT should change to the negative side over a little bit of time. If your LTFT's are not changing in accordance to STFT's, or adjustments you make, try resetting your ECU.

Yep what he said ^

STFT: -11
LTFT: 1

will slowly become

STFT -10
LTFTP: 0

then

STFT: -9
LTFT: -1

then

STFT: -8
LTFT: -2

And so on. The LTFT is basically the stored correction so if STFT(feedback from the O2) reads -10 for a while, slowly the LTFT will become -10 and then STFT will read 0. You can combine them for a rough guess on where they'll end up. But 4 + -3 might equal a 1% correction on your SAFC but you'll have to go back and double check to see that it didn't keep changing another percent or two after your adjustment. Takes patience.

And also just to make sure you know, a -10 reading means the ECU is removing 10% fuel to get where it wants which means you're 10% rich which means you need to remove 10% via SAFC. -10 doesn't mean add 10 via SAFC to even it out. ;)

Cool. Thanks for the info. it really helps. From what you guys said it seems like tuning only for the LTFT is the way to go as the LTFT will eventually adjust itself according to the STFT and zero out the STFT. But sometimes I got like the 1k rpm set up perfectly to 0% LTFT and almost 0% STFT but then after a while I see the LTFT changes to 3% or so, it just not going to be really stable. How do I reset the ECU just remove the battery negative terminal for a minute?

Hey guys this is my most recent pull from third gear, 18 psi on 91 pump gas, check it out. I've already fixed the flapper problem the turbo feels more responsive now with faster spool up, it now spikes up to 20 psi and goes back to 18 psi but I still think it hits full boost a little late. Can you tell from my log when my turbo starts spooling and when it hits full boost? I got some knocks after 6k rpm I'll richen it up a little bit and try another pull tomorrow. Please give me some input I just want to make sure I'm moving to the right direction. Thanks!

Did you ever pressure test you intake track for boost leaks? Also could you post your hi SAFC corrections next to the log? That would help.

Your timing is jacked, you're deffinetly knocking but I can't tell if it's from being pig rich or from massive boost leaks or if you are too lean.

We just fixed the flapper problem last week at the shop didn't have enough time to do the boost leak test as it was late so we'll probably do it next week. My current SAFC settings are:

1000 -14
2000 -14
3000 -14
4000 -14
4500 -14
5000 -15
6000 -17
7000 -18

I'm not too sure whether it's rich or lean but I think over 6k rpm we have lean knocks cuz I tried leaning it a little more but the timing got pulled more.

I think I suck at tuning, I know I'm new but I can't seem to tune it right after trying many times. This is my latest log at 19psi on 91 pump gas, it spiked to 21psi at around 4300 rpm and dropped to the set boost of 19psi. Please check it out and give me some advice.

Also, did the boost spike affect my timing at all? I'm not sure what caused the spike but I heard that the EVO3 turbo tends to spike. Thanks a lot for your help guys.
