Hello, I'm doing an evo 8 ecu swap in my 2g GSX. I have all of it wired up, but pin 79 confuses me. Nobody clearly explains what to do, but it seems everyone else understands. (Tutorial here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/evo-8-ecu-in-2g-works.321515/)

I've found pictures like this: http://www.dsmtuners.com/attachments/evo-8-harness-for-1g-jpg.105305/

That picture shows a 1g harness with a connector hanging off of Pin 79, which I see in the car. It just has a red wire hanging from it. Am i supposed to just cut it off and solder it up to Pin 79 of my ECU? Will that work? Remember I'm 2nd gen... I need to reflash my ECU so I can start the car considering the evo 8 ecu I got will not fire the engine up due to not having the immobilizer disabled.

Without wiring that connector up, and just connecting my tactrix cable to the OBD2 port and the reflash port from the factory to the tactrix, it comes up with this when trying to read and download the ROM:

[10:17:22.239] using metadata XML ID read_evo7 from file C:/Program Files (x86)/OpenECU/EcuFlash/rommetadata/read templates/read_evo7.xml

[10:17:22.252] J2534 DLL Version: 1.01.4496 Jun 12 2015 13:55:00
[10:17:22.252] Device Firmware Version: 1.15.4474
[10:17:22.252] Device Serial Number: TAVAgrip
[10:17:23.458] sending init sequence 1 (0001)
[10:17:26.680] sending init sequence 1 (0003)
[10:17:29.905] sending init sequence 1 (FFFF)
[10:17:33.128] sending init sequence 1 (F0F0)
[10:17:35.839] no response to any known code
[10:17:35.839] interface close

[THIS WAS AFTER ATTEMPTING TO USE AN ECU UNLOCKER, IT DIDNT SHOW THE F0F0 SEQUENCE BEFORE THAT)

So again, do I just cut off the connector and wire it like in the picture above??

Actually depends on your year DSM. I am assuming that you are asking because you have a 95, 96 or 97. If that is the case then yes all you need to do is add the the small flash connector into the main ECU harness, no need to solder anything to the ECU just get a spare connector and install it into the main harness. If you have a 98 or 99 that connector is already there, no need to do anything. There should be a how to add 8n the wire needed for rent flashing the ECU in the thread for first flashed DSM ECU thread... give me a minute to look.

Yo, Did you get this resolved? I have a 95 and I needed that wire connected to the tatrix 1.3 cable. Sometime it won't connect and I have to disconnect the negative battery cable on my car and reconnect it, I think the battery is toast.. Anyways that seems to the bulk of my problems when I try to connect. A sign for me is that I can hear the solenoids under the hood fire off when it's going to connect.
