need help! thinking of buying low11sec.

I've always wanted a AWD DSM. I had a 350hp srt4 that I loved except for the fact that I could never run a good 1/4 with it. Anyways, I now drive a 06' scion tC. I have some money saved up and am getting a student loan for the sole purpose of turbing the tC ($5000). Well, I saw a low 11sec. AWD talon and Iam thinking I can buy that and eventually sell the tC. I guess what Iam asking is if the talon would be ok as a DD to school and work? It doesn't have a/c which I don't really use that much anyways. Would it be semi-reliable as long as I don't hot rod it everywhere? everything on the car is basically new (built 2.4stroker, aem ems, shepard tranny, 2900clutch, turbo, manifold,etc)

In all seriousness these are 20 year old cars that were and still are impressive to drive. However under no circumstances are they to be considered for daily drivers especially since your thoughts are along those of a speed merchant. You have one focus and that is to get an education, you like fast then buy a motorcycle. Modifying a car and expecting it to be reliable just doesn't work and from what I read here you will spend more time with the car than your studies.

There is a reason why your question was avoided, nobody is willing to tell you the truth and few have student loans earmarked for buying cars with the intent of making them go fast. Even if you have an IQ of 160 this doesn't work and I can cite a plethora of those who have failed at both.

Probably not what you wanted to hear. Do have fun with your college experience but keep things in perspective.

any modified car is going to be alot of work and is going to have issues. This car is old enough to be considered a classic. Depending on a car like that is risky unless you are a very good mechanic and can diagnose your vehicle well. A student loan shouldnt be used for anything other then what a student would need this money for (learning). Your gonna be learning regret in the long run if you do this.

If I was in your shoes and wanted a reliable daily driver I would keep the TC and instead of Turboing it, I'd buy the TRD Supercharger and some other supporting mods. The TC is a nice car and with the SC it will be reliable, fast and comfortable. The Super charger dosn't even void the warranty to boot! That car would get you so much tail. The seats in the back recline! Thats frigg'n awesome!!!

Thinking about that makes my pants tight.

Oh boy, reclining seats, what won't they think of next. Since I'm truly out of the loop I can't hazard a guess what tail and tight pants have to do with the practicality of cum laudae.

It is so easy to tell someone else how to spend their money, I do not find this especially constructive since it's not your money you are offering to spend. Student loans from a morality view are not for buying cars to make them go fast. My son's tuition is in excess of $40,000/year, he is going into debt and it's all I can do to keep his car running from 2,400 miles away. Having an extra $5k government backed is enough to make my eyebrows lift much less read that an expression of a wish is was. huh? Gimme a break.

Sound Performance make a turbo kit that includes all of the supporting modes for the tc and cost the same as the trd supercharger kit. http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=342699&page=1&pp=25
is what you should do after you graduate man get the education first. I would listen to GTM post above.

the only thing i can say is that a STOCK dsm is not reliable... so as for a full race one, Im gonna have to give the thumbs down on the DD
