Need Help!! Starting problem

I've searched through the other topics searching for help on why my 91 Laser wont start. I bought it this past Friday. It was working when they guy brought it to my house for the trade. I walked out the next day around 11 am and it started right up. When i went into reverse it stalled out and cant get it to start again. I tried hooking up my mom's '02 Trail blazer to the laser and tried to jump it, but it wouldn't turn over like it was doing earlier when I tried after getting the car in my name. I have very limited money left after getting insurance and transferring the plate and title. I have no garage to work in, it's currently being took over by a caddy with a blown engine. I'm already looking at if the battery is dead, gonna go take the battery into advanced auto to get it checked. I'm gonna check the fuel filter and hopefully check the pump. Anyone who can possibly help a first time dsm owner, your help would be much appreciated.

Well start with the battery, then the starter. Do you get a check engine ligh when it starts up?

No engine light came on when i test drove it nor did it come on before it decided to not work. Like i said Im new, so i think I might know where the starter is, but incase Im wrong can you tell me where exactly its at?

its on the block next to the tranny in the back, no cel you could have a bad computer. do you have a manual on your car that would really help you.

Ok, i'll check the starter tomorrow also, No I dont have a manual, i traded to get outta a manual, Im an amputee and its hard for me to shift....it's why i traded my truck away

Oh... I have one somewhere around here, was my brothers at one point in time. He said its still here, but he hasnt tried to find it for me. let alone help me with the car

is there any power when you turn the key on? if not it could be a ground. i've had it happen on one of my other cars. the main ground comes discounted and the car is completely dead wont turnover or anything then once you put it back on it starts right up. hope that helps

I replaced the battery after finding out that it was dead. Also I personally removed an alarm that i thought had nothing to do with the car....ends up being why i couldnt get the car to even turn over. Dumped 4 gallons of gas with some (Dry-gas) stuff that evaps the water. Now it's either 2 things, 1. Fuel pump is bad or 2. the Fuel pump relay switch is gone or not working....gonna do more when its not dark and below zero!

make sure you check the easy stuff first before you start a huge project could save you alot of time. my best suggestion good luck

^^ the easy stuff would be all electrical connections to and from the battery, all fuses and relays, check for spark and fuel and all related components. its not to hard but might take about an hr or so let us know what you find out.

ok guys first ill say this..that the person writing this right now is the owner of the screen names brother..i have a manual for the car outside in the garage..haven't helped him with the car because i was sick for 4 days ..after saying that ill type up what i know of my 6 years of mechanic work.

when car was being traded i took the car for a ride...when i started to drive it acted real sluggish as if something were clogged..the guy mentioned that the transmission went into ""limp mode""the night previously and he said he talked to a trans guy and he said it needed a new switch (funniest thing iv ever heard) ...forwarding on to parts he left out.Starters fine relays seem OK..everything electrical is OK as seen.

as i spent about an hour an half in this 2 degree weather working on the car i unplugged a clip that i believe was to the cam shaft sensor. The car backfired a large amount of air threw the air box...when i turn the car on i dont hear the pump...but when i turn it over and then back to the ON position i hear the pump prime HMMM
