my mechanic got it from his jdm guy... he gets his trannies and his motors from him... but the only other thing it may be is.... my parking brake is screwed up... when i pull it up it gets stuck there and we have to release it wiht a screw driver... its possible that it is some how getting engaged while all this is happeneing... it only happens when i have been crusing on a highway... around 45mph n up.. but i dont see how it would release after they ahve already locked up

man it could be anything....but here are a few places to look

broken center diff
transfer case siesing
rear diff siesing
emergency brake problem

the likelyhood of it being anything other than the center diff or xfer case is very small. If these 2 pieces are in good order if the rear wheels lock the front ones will too OMG .

yeh only rear locks... not front... i heard it is possible that since my e brake is messed up...(when i use it it locks and i have to manually un lock it fromwheel) so i dont use it. the caliper may be a little stuck and as i drive it it heats up and locks and once i drive off the clunck is the caliper releaseing
