Has some nasty vibration on acceleration. Did some troubleshooting, and the Driver front CV boot was pretty much dry and caused one of the slip joint bearings to fail.

Ordered a replacement from NAPA and it appears to be 1" too long. The lower lateral control arm won't fit back into the bolt. I've measured the slip joint housing that attaches to the intermediate shaft, it's in as far as it will go.
I'm told that "yes, it is the correct part, but there is a second part number that almost might fit"

Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue in the past.

Side note, The first time, the intermediate shaft came right out, but trying to get it back in, I was forced to put a block of wood on the end and tap it back into place with a mallet, couldn't be done by hand... Normal?

Cheers

I recently replaced both CV joints and ordered both from Napa. Not sure of the part number but they both seemed to fit just fine..

The intermediate shaft does require some extra convincing if I remember right. Are you sure you have it in all the way??

The slip joint housing is (as per measurements) and the 2 bolts line up on the rear of the block, so i'm pretty sure it is. I didn't play around with or move the carrier bearing.

Everything bolts up fine except that last hole on the later control arm. Like I mentioned, it's 1" out, and thats pressing the slip joint all the way in.

Part number 95-8378

Thanks though, I'm starting to think they assembled the part wrong.

LH Axle, Driver Side
MR145595 - all w/o ABS -- NAPA part number "NMD 958198" or "NMD 958213" for re-manufactured and "NMD 948054" for new
MR145597 - all w/ ABS -- NAPA part number "NMD 958378" or "NMD 958212" for re-manufactured and "NMD 948054" for new

What you have is an ABS axle. If that's not correct for your car, take it back and get the correct one.

Problem solved.
The part I got was the correct pn, but it was the wrong part. Approx 24" long, and the one required was 22"

I quickly eyeballed it when i picked it up and what a nightmare. Won't be doing that again!
Thanks all.
