n00b GM MAF Question

I can't seem to find anything, but is it possible to run a GM MAF without the translator. Everything I'm seeing puts the translator together with the sensor. I'm short on money and piecing the car together bit by bit.

If it is possible, how does the wiring work?

impossible.... buy the gm maf at a junk yard off a 90's impala to save money,... you might be able to find a translator used, but i not only doubt it, but if you do it will probably be broken, just save up for the translator, buy that first, then save up for the maf... (actually get the intercooler piping or intake piping your going to need to hook up the maf second, then the maf third...)

you need the sensor. The GM sensors we use for MAFT have been around for awhile now and have not had any problems with them, I would not hesistate to use eBay or any other source of used parts for something like that. I got mine off of eBay for $35 shipped and it works just fine. Most places have a warrenty for awhile to ensure their product works. Hell of alot cheaper than $200 or whatever they want for a new one.

Gm-MAF reads air flow in a value that our ECU's can't understand, thats why you need the translator. Sensor is useless without the translator, its like you trying to understand Arabic without any schooling or someone to convert the language to English.
