my radio is popping

Alright so. ill tell you everything i know of. The back 2 speakers work fine!
Now i can get the passenger door and dash one to work by knocking the amp a couple times (but cuts out again shortly) but the driver side door and dash are always quiet.
The popping noise is like the speakers keep cutting out (all 4 front speakers) i took out the amp and checked the wires from the radio to the amp they all seemed fine. any ideas?

Check the wires to the speakers themselves. I've had this happen and it turned out the wires were grounding out within the door. If this doesn't fix it check more wires

+1 I've had this happen also, not on a 1g but an old mustang. More than likely the 18 year old amp is the problem if wiring is good, just a guess though.

+1 You can check if the amp is the problem by just bypassing the amp and wiring the speakers directly to the dash
