hey guys.. here is my planned mods for the next month or so on my 90 laser.. let me know what you think about it and any extimates on times, power, etc??

- Spearco FMIC - 17"x7.5"x3" (core size) - 24"x7.5"x3" (endtanks included)
- 2.5" short route piping
- RFL bov
- 2 3/4" intake w/ 2g mas
- 3" dp/exhaust - no cat
- unorthodox pulley set
- ported cyclone intake manifold
- ported evoIII exhaust mani
- ported 1g o2 housing
- ported 14b
- 550's/190 pump/ adj regulator/safcII
- mbc
- short shifter
- full suspension
- act2600/xact flywheel

basically i want a high 12sec street car, that requires minor tuning with conering ability - thus the reason for full suspension, yet only bolt ons and portwork

already have the fmic/pump/shifter/mbc and some suspension.. so it should be done in about a month or so.

now id like to know whats wrong the rfl....im using it on a heavily modded fwd....not recirculated...and i idle like a champ with 272's and 1mm os valves.1100rpm idle..so it don't leak...and coming to a stop the car don't stall either...and it sounds great to man...id say keep it... :thumb:

everyone knows "on the books" a vented BOV is a no-no unless you have a vpc/gcc or MAF-T... but there are cars out there that will be ok venting to the atmosphere. MOST idle like crap, like mine, when vented.

i say get an SSQV or type s or type RS.

forget the cyclone manifold, it's not worth the hassle to make it work.

get a 7cm turbine housing if you're going to port it.

pulley set? really?

IMO 2g manifold > SBR/evo manifold for cost/function purposes.

get a 2g o2 housing and port it, the 1g sucks [ ever see a comparison pic? ]

goodluck, and go slow. remember, mod right mod once.

ported 14b will go high 12s easy, but its a pita with a 15 year old turbo and you're going to run higher boost that will kill that old snail real fast. You can go high 12's with only a few of those mods. I did it with a 255, SAFC, and exhaust and some other minor mods.

As soon as you get all those parts, you'll drive your car for a week and hate the 14b. As long as your car has all the maintenance work done on it, go with a much bigger turbo. High 12's is fun and all, but you'll only want to go faster. The smallest turbo I would ever run is a 50 trim. But if you love small turbos, at LEAST get an evo 16g.

And junk that pulley set and cyclone intake manifold, too much hassle for little to no performance gains.

thanks for all the replies guys.. after reading your thoughts and looking around, ive changed up my list some..

i am ditching the pulleys.. and i traded off the cyclone for a ported 1g intake mani. Getting a 2g mani and o2 - both ported.. and i found a rebuilt and ported 14b with 7cm 16g housing, ported as well for a good price.. so i think that will be my end result.

i do like small turbos for the fact of the quicker spool and ease of daily driving.. especially with a fwd.

oh yeah, and can anyone put some input of the SBR lsd unit.. they say its strong and reliable.

I'd recommend getting a maft instead of an safc unless you like the eye-candy and having something in the cabin to play with.

Well, for starters, you won't need a new FPR with just a 190lph so either toss the AFPR for something more useful to you, or just be smart and get a 255 since its the same price as the 190. If you're set on the RFL then you'll most likely want a GM MAF/MAF-T setup so you're car won't feel like it wants to blow up when you idle. For 12's, you will see no problem with a 1G BOV so it'd be easier to spend the $$ elsewhere. OTherwise, have fun, and don't abuse your car too fast after you raise the boost and install the parts...Good Luck with the Laser

My Translator is in the cabin. I do like the MAFT as it has alowed me to set up a true cold air intake with my K&N sitting where the stock sidemount IC was as I have an FMIC and the MAF is a blow thru. mark

thanks for all the input.. The only reason i am using the RFL is because i got it for free.. A buddy had it on his Evo, then wrecked it, so i yanked it. and the 190 pump is already installed, thus the reason it will be used... If i use 550's with the 190, will i need fuel management??

YES! Anytime injuectors of a different size areused some type of fuel control is needed. I would recommend the MAF-T for the options it allows like blowing off that RFL to the atmosphere and having a true cold air intake when yu set the MAF as a blow thru. mark

When you use a MAF-T, dont you have to have a blow through MAS?? Can it be used with the stock/2g mas?

There are 'less expensive' ways to do that. But I still like the mods list plan you have. Did you think about Keydiver chip, Scanmaster for logging, and an afc? You're good for getting the 2g mass, im also running a cyclone, porting it would be good, seeing how it only flows 2cfm less than the stock, but gives better low end, pulleys will be a waste, you can buy nice o2 housings, having an AFPR will help with tuning, you could play with the fuel pressure. I think you're in pretty good shape with your mods list, as its always 'SUBJECT TO CHANGE' :thumb:

The GM MAF replaces the MAS and can be set up as a blow thru allowing blowing off the BOV tothe atmosphere. Check out www.fullthrottlespeed.com The GM MAF outflows the 2gMAS.
