friend is buyin an 90 eagle tsi awd...wit not engine. So what he was going to do is drop about 15 g's.... SBR stage 1 long block. WIth the long block, hes going for a evo3 turbo set up, which includes ya knoe the mani, 02, wastegate...and the rest of the mods list he plans to get is this, well this is everything he wants if he does go for it.
-TurboXS RFL BOV
-TurboXS Dual Stage Boost Controller
-SMC Alky Kit
-Apexi TT
-Apexi N1 exhaust
-Apexi Downpipe
-SBR FMIC
-SBR clutch package
-ACT FLywheel
-Aeromotive Fuel Rail

-Aeromotive Fuel Pump
-RC 550cc Injectors
-SS FUel line kit
-Apexi S-AFC2
-Autometer gauges, all of em

-Iridium spark plugs i think...
-Fluidyne Raditor, and radiator fan

and thas bout it...see he doesn't know alot yet, nor do i, and we were both wondering what else would he need or should get, other than mounts and wiring harness which of course he'd get. Like what don't i need for the boost and power he could be running, and what else does he need. This is a possible project, not for sure thing, cuz parents are planning to give him bout 17 thou and he wants to start a project rather than buying a new car. and i got him to love dsms.... :D in put please

A good amount of that stuff isn't even need and a waste of money. If you friend has 15K just sitting around, doubt it, then he can spend it alot better. Now before you go asking what he should do I will just say to learn and read. Just because he dumped a ton of money on his car doesn't it mean anything. It still has to be tuned and driven well for anything good to come of it.

EDIT: If his parents are giving him that kinf of money why not put it to good use? Perhaps a down payment on a house or saving for the future? Putting into a car is the worst thing he could do.
 
okay with the tuning and all that, got friends that will do that for him. I asked if whats needed and not needed, and well you say that there are stuff thats not needed, what are those things. with the whole future, and house thing, well hes young and housin is not a problem and money, lets jus say that, hes really smart, no doubt on that, got his future set pretty much, jus would like a lil project has all, etc...

Friennds are really experienced, went to uti, worked with nascar, been workin on cars forever at a shop, etc...my friend are quite old and experienced hehe. but yea. Lemmeh know whats needed and not, cuz well thas what we're both wondering and makin sure of.
 
Are you guys serious????????? For $15,000, you can get a 2 G AWD with all that mod on there and maybe even more. I got mine for only $8,000 and it has most of those mods already! You guys need to sit back and really think about this.

anyway I believe that your entire approach to this is totally incorrect. You are missing some really important and basic things here.

#1 tranny/drivetrain.
#2 engine management.
#3 550cc injectors are too small.
#4 etc etc etc

That list may have a lot of bling but the car still won't run.

Now lets do this the correct way. Does he want this to be a fast/fun car or just a money sink? Does he want the car to be show or go? Does he seriously have the time and money you are looking at?
 
O.k.....so I'm just a little jealous. But do check out this sites fabulous tuning guide and try to fill in any gaps between that mod list and yours.
 
So your going to go throw down a bunch of money on parts that you obviously have no idea what they are or do? You have alot to learn.

Well first off the TurboXS BOV suck ass. Get a real BOV liek a Tial if you feel the need to spend money. If not then just stick with the stock 1G and maybe crush it.

That boost control isnt needed either and it is stupid expensive. For that price you can get a EBC and have control in the car.

Alsky kit. Just learn to tune correctly and then you wont need banaids for bad tunning.

TT isnt needed but again if you feel the need to spend money go ahead.

All that Aeromotive stuff isnt needed. Peopl ehave gone 10's on the stock fuel lines. What you should get is an AFPR with a gauge.

AFC and MSD. Just buy DSMlink and call it a day. Not only does it allow you to tune, but it can log as well.

Thsoe plugs are a joke and a waste of money. Just get some NGK's.

The radiator and shifter arent needed unless you start to run hot, but I doubt you will need it.

This is all up to you but the Apex isnt a true 3 in exhaust and you are paying for a name. You can make your own exhaust for a 1/4 the cost of an Apex cat back. The rest looks ok.

Here is my take on all this. If your friends are so smart and have all this knowledge then half that crap you listed shouldn't have even been brought up, hell they didn't even mention some sort of a logger. If they went to NASCAR school they know how to weld so the exhaust is cake. They also should have said something abotu drivetrain parts, but again going to school doesnt make you smart. I hate to be rude but it looks like you just posted a useless wish list that wont do much except look good. Like I suggested before, read the forums and the tunning guide. These will help you find out what part YOU need for YOUR car. None of us will tell you how to build your car, but we will help with specific questions.


As far as the 16G goes, you don't even the stuff I told you to run a 16G. You are going to have 15K in a car that barely makes 400 HP and runs low 13's. :rolleyes:

alright i have no real input in all this, he asked me to asked and i did. As for my friends who would do the tuning, they dont have a clue bout all this from what im told. My friend has done some research, and well thanks for the input thats what we were lookin for. As for say the drivetrain, he wanted the clutch package and flywheel, and thought that was enough. See I know enough, but not much, dont have to prove myself either. I know the basics thas it, this is my friends list, and well it needs editing and thas why its up on here. I told my friend to go and talk to my friends, do get input from them, etc....jus say i knoe basics, and this aint my list or my project. I suggested he just go for something thas already running, 1g or 2g whichever one and use whatever moneys left on modding it...i dunnoe i'll have my friend read all this. might jus tell him to get a wrx, or sti or evo or sumptin.
 
a lot of the stuff listed is not really needed for the turbo size.

magnus is not needed a buddy of mine just ran an 11.7 on the stock intake manifold and 50 trim
fuel rail
fuel line kit

id suggest a cheaper exhaust setup, aftermarket cams, dsmlink insteade of afc,

definently bigger injectors too, i was hitting almost 76% on my FIC 650's with my e3 at 19 psi.

he could also find an already modded well running dsm for half the cost. He will only run low 12's on that setup, and you can get a car that will run low 12's for 7-9K (2G) cheaper for 1G.
 
Iridium spark plugs will make his car run like crap, I had some in for only a month and then it ran like I had the worst boost leak. Just have him go with some Bpr7's, they will save him the trouble in the long run.

I'm not totally sure, but the guy lives in alaska, and i don't really think that buying a done out dsm is really an option. That's just what i think
 
I just have a little input. You can get a used Greddy tt for arond $30. Get the B&M-knockoff short shifter off ebay and save $; it's exactly the same as the real one and less than 1/3 the price. If you don't have a laptop then dsmlink will be expensive, but he has $15k soooo. Pcketlogger + AFC will be cheeper-under $400 used I think. Don't get the Apex'i dp. Get a Megan, RRE, or Buschur dp instead.

Your friend may not want to go with an Evo or WRX if you tell him you can get 12's for under a grand in mods in some cases. If he wants to go all out it still wont cost anywhere near $15k. Hell, if I just threw money at people I dont think I could spend that much on a car.
