My first flash and a few questions about this whole H8 business.

Firstly, sorry if this information is already available. I'm making my own thread anyway.

So, to the point. I flashed my ECU today for the first time. I wasn't sure what to expect. But I figured if everything went smoothly I'd experience no change, whatsoever. You see, my car has stock injectors with only a fuel pump rewire. I've been doing my little T25 and MBC thing for a long time. No electronic tuning and no MAF futzing.

So, I nabbed the EXTREMEZ0R Ceddy package and flashed my ECU. I had many questions, without answers before I had even clicked "write to ECU" but since everyone else had been rocking out I lost patients and clicked.

*KERRCHUNK!!" went the ECU. The flash had been successful, as I joyously watched my boost gauge bounce up and down in such a smooth and flowing manner.

I rubbed my sweaty meat-hooks together as I greedily began to imagine the awesomeness of running BigMaps on stock injectors, as that was the .hex I had chosen to flash. Talk of increased driveability, my most favorite of things my car lacks, had me practically dribbling down my chin.

OK, enough. Everything went fine. The car drove fine. The knock sensor works fine, too, apparently. I adjusted one more parameter and performed another flash. I changed my idle to 850 for the two warmest temperatures listed. I've ALWAYS wanted to do that..

The problem I'm having is that the car will stumble when I first crank it, then it will shoot to target RPM and purr like a kitten. Do you think this is because I flashed the BigMaps ROM? Is it because of the older FWD ROM this is all based on?

I suppose I should test my stock ROM and see if its normal again.

TL;DR

Car stumbles for a half second on start up but then idles just fine.
Used BigMaps ROM.

Just fishing around to see if anyone else is mucking around with a stock car.

What is the EXTREMEZ0R Ceddy package? LOL

I will be purchasing Ceddymod in the VERY near future and going straight to speed density (for whatever reason LOL). The only thing I have left to get is the mitsu. reflash cable ... the one for sale on the evoscan website was going to be $40 shipping and take a few days to get here.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you purchase the reflash cable?
 
I got my cable from taxtric, the cable and flash adapter came to $200 shipped. Arrived in 2 days!

Hehe. I was referring to the $30 package. I've donated in the past but I wanted to be sure I was being fair to Ceddy and still getting what I need out of it.
 
How many times have you started the car since flashing?
 
We were talking back and forth on messages but I figured I would voice the question. Has anyone worked with the newest version of ceddymods, and the newest version of ECUFlash?
Version 2.8 for ECUFlash, and 1.9c for Ceddymods. I can't get communication with ECUFlash with 2.8, I removed the program and installed to a different directory(as per ceddy's website) and still have no communication with the ECU.
I am a little frustrated beside ya bro.

I need an "Easy" button, and NO i don't mean Link...
 
So I finally managed to get communication with my ECU again with a different laptop but I am not getting any ROM metadata other than: ROM Info, it shows 99 Mitsubish GSX, Case ID: MD359403, Internal ID: EM2364, Memory Model: H8569FA, but I am not getting anything for me to modify or change. Its like it reads the file from the ECU but isn't giving me anything to change. Any ideas?

Are you still on the stock rom or did you flash the ceddy donateware rom (or one of his better pacakges)? If you are still on the stock rom then you need to flash the ceddy rom onto it. Next month I going to upgrade to the ceddy full package like PieEyed.

PieEyed I thought those big maps were copied from the evo maps. Or did ceddy adjust them for the 450's and 2g maf? I have to tune mine bad I changed the scaling for 850 injectors. It runs rich as heck at idel even though my wideband show its lean. I think I have some issues with my wide band I need to resove before I really start tuning my car. But the good news is that my mpg jumped up 3mpg since the install and change for 850s

I knew I was missing something. I am going out to flash ceddymods onto it.

There is a way to turn the CEL on for removing EGR stuff right? I know that the CEL will flash off for knock if the CEL is allready on. I thought there was a way to get it off if it was for the emmsion codes.
 

Have you copied the 23640004 definition file into the metadata folder?

Make sure under ECUFlash's options your user level is set to "Developer".

Copy the code on this ^ page and paste it into notepad, then save it as 23640004.xml in the folder C:/Program Files/OpenECU/EcuFlash/rommetadata/mitsubishi/eclipse

Assuming the hard drive where ECUFlash is installed is labeled C on your machine...

Close and restart ECUFlash. Open the 2364 ROM. Now you should see everything available for your stock ROM.

If you wish to use Ceddy's mods, I believe you will need to reflash to the 2055 ROM he's modified. AFAIK, he hasn't put his mods package in any of the other ROMs.

One thing I noticed with the 2364 is that the write-up was meant for 2364 for "how to get a basic tune". I kept scratching my head as I read, re-read, and read the thread and looking at ceddymods in ECUFlash and things are not the same. For starters in ceddymods its not Injector size and latency.

There needs to be a "Tuning for Dummies with ceddymods and ECUFlash"

I like the fact that our ECU's are flashable, that I was able to get everything needed to tune for under $250, but this setup requires a much larger learning curve.

Pretty sure it's all setup for a stock car. It runs pretty much identically to the stock rom so I'm almost certain it's not setup for 560cc injectors.

I'm starting to think my start up issue is the CTS, more than the flashing. But you have to think it's pretty weird that your car starts everytime, the first time and has for it's entire life, and then BAM! right after flashing it shits itself for a half second on startup, and when hot, won't start sometimes unless you give it gas.


Oh and ceddy's site works again.
