hey people im rebuilding my engine so i just wanted to show what i was doing and get some feedback on how my build is going....!!! I don't have a engine hoist so bare with me..! My motor ran fine when i pulled it out... i just decided to rebuild it since i plan on raising up the boost...!!! Ive found a couple of surprises like, i have a apex-i turbo back exhaust system, i had a ebay racing clutch (no wonder it felt so stiff), signs of crankwalk, eibach spring (i thought they had cut them), a 1g intake manifold (i think), probably blown turbo.. (coolant comes out of the cold side of the turbo behind the fins....!!!

OK PEOPLE I GOT A UPDATE ON THE PROGRESS...!! it turned out to be a a whole 7bolt swap... i mean correct me if im wrong.. but arent 6bolts supposed to have larger intake ports? well my motor had small ports and i compared them with my new 6bolt and there different in size...! i also found out that the previous owner was so cheap that he used a piece of cardboard box as a intake manifold gasket......! so far i got the tranny a bit cleaned up and since the motor was out i decided to clean the engine bay.. looks much better... i just got dealer intake manifold metal gasket.. exhaust manifold gasket... i also put the balance shaft eliminator kit...!... more updates tomorrow....!!!

UPDATE...!!!
I got the motor in today... i couldnt find a hoist.. so i decided to instal it through the bottom whitch i have done before but with a 90 acura integra...,,!!!
I got the motor and tranny together and pushed it under the car... and no nothing got damaged...! check out the pictures...!!

You may want to check that jackstand on the driver side. It looks like one wrong jerk and it would slip off the frame. Ive heard too many stories of ppl getting hurt or killed if theyre underneath it when one gives.

Good luck with everything.

honestly i have no clue.. i got the car like that... and wile removing the engine i found some pretty interesting things...! like i have a good exhaust system.... no cat... my clutch doesnt seem to be stock... ill post more pictures later....!

Ok people my biggest fears came true... i took my head off and and everything and just spin the crank and it ran smooth but as soon as i gave it a back and forth pull i found out i have crankwalk... ' YEA PEOPLE THATS RIGHT "CRANKWALK"... how much is too much crankwalk or theres not supposed to be any...!!

Find a place to safely and securely mount a dial indicator on your
harmonic balancer. Zero it out and with a pry bar or a large screw driver behind the balancer, move it to the max amount of travel, and then back. This is your crankshaft end play reading

As an FYI you can buy an engine hoist from harbor freight for under $100 i dropped the engine like you did but i will NEVER do it like that again it was the biggest pain in the butt. If that doesnt work craigslist is where i got mine for $50 =)

Nice from the way it looks like a 1g block and as for the 16g, take it to a local shop and test it out last time i went and test my old t-25 witch i found out it was blown it was like 35$, but rebuilt most of the time around 380$ but definately (coolant comes out of the cold side of the turbo behind the fins) got me into a state of shock LOL so yea i would say its blown and even more when i took a look at that turbo housing..

well i thought it was a 6 bolt too but when i got my clutch of i found out it was a 7 bolt... but im not sure about the intake manifold... is it supposed to be on that motor?

That's a 1G head. You can tell just by looking at the coolant lines. The 1G has a tube coming from the water pump to the lower radiator. 2Gs have a thermostat housing with both lines on it.

The block is a 2G 7-bolt. There are no provisions for a motor mount on the bellhousing area. The 2G has it's motor mounts on the transmission where a 1G has them next to the bellhousing area before the transmission.

I really hope you didn't bend the oil pan taking it out like that. Also that appears to be a dejon sidemount intercooler on the ground in that one pic, doesn't look like any stock intercooler I've seen

210?? thats real high you want around 170 on a 2g motor

so i should just find another one...! i live in sandiego and cant find any good ones...! if its good, its expensive and if its bad... they usually have spun rod bearings...!

So wait, in your first post you said the motor runs fine but your rebuilding it.

Then you say you have crankwalk, but how much crankwalk is too much.

Do you know what your doing? You might have just wasted a lot of time pulling a motor that might have just needed a tune up.
