yea the shop that I took the block to didnt do a very good job at painting the block black. Honestly the red doesnt show through as bad as it looks in the pics. Now im thinking if I shouldnt go back and do the job myself?

I would love to do a build like this but currently i don't have the money. With that being said, I consider myself very lucky not trashing my engine when i spun my balance shaft bearing. Pulled the oil pan, found the bearing fubar-ed, cleaned out the metal shavings, flushed oil through the engine, new front cover gaskets and seals, cleaned everything up, did a balance shaft removal kit installl, painted the oil pan and waterpump pulley and was back up and running. If i would have known how much work that was going be in those few days, i would have pulled the engine out to do it.
Build looks really good, keep us updated!

Well I worked on the talon this weekend and got a little bit of work done. I installed the water pump and here are some pics.

Since I am trying to save some money on this build im reusing my front case but im replacing the seals on the case so it works just as good as new. This is the front main seal with a thin layer of rtv around the seal so it doesnt leak.

Just use a rubber mallot and tap the seal in it will look something like this.

Here is the oil seal on the front case its installed using the same method as above

i believe your bse seal is inside out...... but nice work im in the middle of a build because of the same thing....damn balance shafts!! and i hope your oil pump dont take a dump on you....when you do the eliminator kit it tends to raise your oil pressure a little, and depending on how many mile are on that pump it might be good insurence to get a new front case.....i know im going to....

the top part of the seal is facing out which is how everyone elses looks. If i am wrong please tell me. And the oil pump gears all look good so i shouldnt have to worry about the pump going out. and i do plan on porting the oil relief valve bc of the high oil pressure.

And ill flip that motor mount bracket around thanks for pointing that out to me.

thanks,
Bryce

ya the seal is sposed to go in like a freeze plug....it should cup into it....not sit flush, you might be able to get away with it if you use alot of gasket sealer but its still possible that it could leek.

Ok well I have been doing some research on this and it seems many people have done it both ways and as long as you use plenty of jb weld both ways work. So I think I should be ok. If anyone feels this is wrong please chime in and tell me. And thanks to everyone for their help so far.

Bryce

nice!!! well now that your at that stopping point you should start ordering more parts!!! and hahaha way to put the brcket on backwards!!! hehe but its ok
