So I took my car to the garage recently because it was running poorly and it stalled constantly. They told me it was my ECU they were also going to charge around 500+ to have it replaced so I told them I was just going to take it home. Here's my question the car is a 97 esi with manual trans. My friend has a 97 rs that's blown and it's just been sitting so can I just take that? I was told at the garage that I needed to put my chip into the new ecu but is that just for a brand new one? I was just going to do a plug and play swap. Also his car is manual too.
