Hello I'm Eddy, i am from phoenix AZ, currently 18 yrs old. I am not new to the Dsm scene as my cousin owns a 99 Gst and i have always been helping him when he needs a hand. Ive been lurking the forums for about 2/3 years now and I'm glad i ended up here you guys help out so much, I love Dsmtuners! I own a 99 gs-t that i bought about 3-4 months ago but sadly today it almost killed me :[. Today as i drove home from work, apparently, my ball joint separated and my wheel went loose on me. I lost control of the car and slammed a wall 3 times, hopefully i wasn't injured neither did i hurt anybody else. my question would be does anybody in the phoenix area have any ball joint or control arms for sale? i would really appreciate it! also I'm looking for a left fender as well as a bumper. Thank you so much for reading!:not good:

I went oem just so i can assure a little bit more peace of mind when driving around. But like said before..inspect everything first.

Not to sound like a dick....but this is how dsm's get a bad name. Its not the cars fault the ball joint fell apart...its a lack of proper maintenance. I have seen hondas, Audis, and many other cars do this same thing. Mainly from drivers ignoring major warning sings and noises.

On a side note, I'm glad to see no one got hurt and I am by no means trying to bash you or anything, just don't blame the car haha.

I never blamed the car. I dont know if you read the op but i bought the car just a few months before and it was a terrible mistake of my part not checking every aspect of the car.

Yeah I read all that, I guess it was just the way you said "It almost killed me"
it should have said I almost killed myself :)
I just think there had to be some noises or wobbling before that thing let loose.

yeah you don't sound like a dick at all:aha:
But exactly what point are you trying to make? The op has done his homework and sounds like he did the preventive work we always suggest, you've really never heard of parts turning to turd without warning?? our cars get a bad rep because well they break down, a lot, not because everyone that drives one isn't paranoid about every squeek and tick that comes out of their cars. So how about you just take it easy on the op whose just been in the accident and on top of that has to deal with the shock of exactly how expensive owning one of these can be. Btw I think it's inevitable to own a dsm for a while and not become a paranoid owner...

Atleast it can be fixed and you didn't total your car. This should be a lesson to everyone on here that buying a car that is this old and throwing mods on it to make it faster before replacing worn suspension components is a bad idea. Always start with suspension, then make it faster! Glad to hear you are alright because I know it can be scarry when your sliding out of control on the highway. Had bad ball joints on a ford probe several years ago and swerved when trying to changed lanes and did a 360 accross 3 lanes of traffice and barely hit a cement wall hence I always replace my ball joints and tie rods when I am unsure of how old they are.

And if it's not a recall and you can't get it done for free never buy china ball joints off of E-geah! Go to autozone or orielies and get new joints, preferable moog or another perforamnce brand because it is something you do not wan't to cheap out on. You can buy a new control arm but why? I am pretty sure a snap ring holds the balljoints in so take it out and press them out and put new joints in.

Most likely the recall has been done. These cars are pretty old. You can get a new control from advanced a moog for 90 bucks or so. So it really shouldn't break the bank. I would try to find a local dsm board in your area and ask there.

You'd be shocked. I had a 91 that had a single recall done.Specifically the transfer case recall. I am just glad they checked my recalls when I took it to the chysler dealership to have the window motors replaced.

mine is a 91 I'm gonna have to check that out!!:hellyeah: glad to see it all lined out for you OP. keep your head up and stay in the game. It's all worth it in the end!

My point is, a USED car should be checked out by a REAL mechanic if you can't do it yourself...any joker at an alignment shop can tell you if a control arm is dangerously loose. Its not that hard to spot that. I' have owed a DSM for the last 15 years and NEVER had my wheels blow off the car. Nor am i a "paraniod owner" I would bet my house that the car was making a whole lot of noises before hand. So my point is don't drive a car that can endanger my life and everyone else on the road. That's just my opinion bro...so dont jump all over me for what I THINK.

I would be getting your house then. Cause my car made no noises, Everything looked good when I checked them out when I replaced the axles, and FYI I AM a mechanic, ASE certified. 6 years of schooling, worked in repair shops, repaired vehicles in the army. Things CAN and WILL go wrong with no warning at all! :thumb: Now am I saying that is his case? No. Just saying it can. JM2C

Oh sorry about the ride BTW. Sucky situation. Owning a DSM might as well open your wallet and bend over and be prepared to take it LOL

Man this same thing happened to me yesterday LOL. Driver's side ball joint. The parts only costed me 45 dollars it was all fixed up and running within a couple hours. I'm sorry about your luck, I was lucky enough to be in town going about 30, I cant imagine it happening at 60! Glad you are ok man good luck, wait to keep your head up about things :rocks:

Ive never been against people making their opinions hear but i dont believe you have a right to think i am lying when i say it did not make any noise. I mean i have nothing to gain by lying in a web forum. And i still respect you opinion i just dont think its right.
