My custom shifter! PICS!

Looks good. I bought a Megan short throw that was supposed to lower it 1 to 2 inches and it seems like it raised it.

This just seems like way too much work, when you can buy a short throw.
I honestly don't care how "high" the shifter sticks out as long as the throw has changed.
I'm not hating on using guerrilla glue, but I am interested in how well it hold up over time.

.... to much work!? do you have a hacksaw, sawzaw, die grinder or angle grinder!? just cut it and take it to a local shop, a friend, neighbor. and have them mig it in 2 seconds. Boom, short shift and it may be 20 dollars at the most.

Why spend a 100$ on a "brand name" one!?

The reason you pay for a "brand new one" is the actual "throw" is shorter.
Not the height, the name short throw some where along lines obviously has confused people.
I understand some people are just doing it for looks, but on a moving part of the drivtrane function is what matters to me.
I think I only payed like 40 bucks for my b&m Clone and I've never had a problem with it.

To add to this when I cut mine I left the bend in it just cut as much of the staight pieces as I could. Dropped as much as the pictures but left it all in orientation if that makes sense. Mine shifts great and yes I do think that it shortenend the throw also. Cost me $0. 0 or 40 really a no brainer.

I did a OEM cut on my shifter in my 95 ESI, but im thinking about doing it over, i have big hands and i hit the plastic with my hands goin into 3rd and 5th so im going to bend it back just a hair to keep that from happening. but overall it feels much better than stock

i just used the shifter out of a mirage and it was alot shorter then my stock tsi one...

I cut mine with a hacksaw then grinded down the fat part, i have a different shift knob then stock so i just heavily wrapped the top of the cut piece with electric tape then put the new knob on a tightened it down. It looks a lot nicer and feels better, though every time someone else drives my car they manage to miss third and go straight to fifth, every time.
