So a couple months ago I was in an accident. Along with the rest of my front end, my retrofitted hid headlamps were destroyed. While fixing the hood/bumper/radiator support, I decided to redo the headlights and make them look better than before. Some of you may remeber the original headlights:

Although the BMW projectors themselves worked great, the LED/turn signal array was barely visible when lit, even at night. This made room for improvement.

For the redesign, I decided to give the turn signal area an abstract/organic element than housed a bar of inline LEDs. I sketched out a shape, and cut it out of the curved black plastic that's used behind our bumpers. Here's what the process looked like:

I sprayed the plastic "elements" with silver paint for an aluminum look, and then stenciled "GST" in black, using frisket, an exacto knife, and much patience.

Here's the end result. E46 HELLA projectors, phillips 6000k ultinon capsules, and LED arrays of 50 inline LEDs per side.

Lights off, the arrays are completely clear:

DDont you have lambo doors? Why arent they up in at least one pic LOL. That is awesome, it never ceases to amaze mme the enginuity of some DSMers. Outstanding man.

HOT STUFF !!!! :thumb:

Now that's a dedicated project build! OMG 50 in-line per side? OMG Did you build that by yourself or did you source a pre-made unit. That's quite a bit of soldering if it's the former!

Awesome look, especially paired with those huge clampers you've got tucked away under the front wheels.

Shit man, 50 leds inline is a ton. I had 20 on my xbox and by the time I was done soldering all of them I had some pretty burnt up hands. Props to you for a good job done.

Well, I'd hate to be the one to point out, but those look like bars of LED's, which tells me one of 2 things - dude's fricken awesome with epoxy or they came prefabbed as led bars with all the LEDs hooked up inline with a single housing... either way the headlights still look awesome

Looks clean ! What housings are those ?

Hey, even though you didn't fab the "light bar" by yourself, that's still - as many others here have said - an awesome job.

Super clean mod and very application-appropriate.

I'd still say that it's an excellent job! :thumb:

damn that looks way too good!!! how much would it cost for you to make me one look like that? :D

As though there's ten people on here who could tell you what frisket is.

That's okay, they don't know about Paasche turbos, either :D

Oh, and terrific job. I remember working that hard on cars. :thumb:

nice. LOL i remember when u were working on those. only took u like 2 dayz cuz we had 2 swap joes lights. freaking mad skillz dude. props. :thumb: :dsm:

Looks great...
could you still "back light" your awesome aluminum look trim using the existin OEM bulb or something similar?

Looks good. Your car is like the lite version of mine, same rims and intercooler. Kinda scary LOL! Love the headlights Good work!

i tried to pm you.. if i buy all the parts needed could you make me a set just like these... i'll pay you what you feel is good for your time involved in making them... i was going to go to hid tech but these are more custom i rather spend my money with a fellow dsmer :rocks:

Is the LED bar bendable and where did you get it from. Also how was the wiring on the light bar, just a red and black wire or something more involved. Thanks and those lights are extremely badass. Now you gave me some inspiration to try something (don't worry I'm not stealing your beautiful design.)
