hey has anyone had any experience with putting HID bulbs in these headlights? they are the HB4 type for the low beam and HB3 for the high.

I want to get them and I already have the HID kit from my OEM headlights which is why I want to use these ones.

Will the beam pattern still be nice and straight and usable?

Thanks in advance.

I was at a junk yard a few weeks ago and came across headlights similar to these. They sticker on the back that said NOT MEANT FOR HID bulb. Although I don't know if the ones you like are compatible.

I wanted to know the same thing. I know with the b15's ebay projectors look halfway decent with HID's even though they are not for use with HID's.

A search would have quickly returned a hundred answers to this question but here is the scoop.

The beam pattern on these lights is not good with halogen bulbs and it is just as bad (but brighter) with HID.

Yes, they will fit if you get the correct base.

Yes, they will light up the road, and the trees and the squirrels in the trees.

Yes, you will create large amounts of glare and cursing from oncoming traffic at night.

I have projector lights on my truck, they suck. They are bright but have a very small ammount of road light. Its just like a flashlight focused on one area. HIDs will be brighter but it will just be in that one area. If you get those with HIDs invest in some good fog lights with good bulbs.

Those lights blow. Can't you figure out there is a reason the cost $125??Come on man use your brain and the search button.

You will get better output using the stock housing and HID's.

Glare, not a big issue. There REALLY is not much glare suing a stock, or aftermarket Housing. Being they are not a projector.

I have HID's on both my trucks. One is lifted now. One has a factory housing, one Aftermarket Clear Housing. Looks perfect. Almost no glare. Had a friend drive my truck down the street with me in his vehicle. Looked no different than a normal OE vehicle with HID's.

I have sold several HID Kit's to friends with DSM's. One with a 1Gb with the aftermarket clear housings. A DDM Tuning 6K Kit. Looks great, no glare, decent cutoff. No issues. I aimed them accordingly.

The key is AIMING them. Doing it right. Most of the time people throw HID's and do not aim them. Which get's a terrible glare. And blinds people. I understand.

Again, even with Aiming them. Does not make it perfect. Makes it alot better. Eliminates alot of the glare. But still a little. Depends on make and model of vehicle.

Do what you please. Do it right if you want. Dont let someone on the internet tell you how to do things. Just do it. Your car. Your money. Your decesion.

Thats terrible advice.Don't ask questions/opinions on the internet if you don't want feedback or help. Ive learned a ton of things from other people on the internet and wish I had listened to advice when I thought it was wrong.Granted there are a lot of idiots that don't know what they are talking about, there also are a lot of wiser people that have already "been there and done that".

I don't see that as terrible advice at all, I think his point was there are many threads about this, as well as the pros/cons of HID kits, and true HID conversions. Meaning the information is there, do what you want with it.:thumb:

There ARE some headlight sets out there that do have a cut off that will work decent with HID. You just have to look for them.

Yeah...projectors from a tsx or tl or equivalent. Your not gonna be able to buy a set of "halo" style headlights that have a nice cutoff because they are all cheap.Thats why they are <$200 for a brand new set.Trust me, I have been there and done that a long time ago and to really get a clean, "oem" look to those lights, you need to retrofit and fab your own.

Wow guys thanks for all the input I really appreciate it! But after doing a lil more research and finding the page the shows that these headlights are the easiest to retrofit with high quality projectors...I thinks that's what I am going to do.

But I'll probably try them as is with hids in them anyway just to see how they would look LOL. ;)

Thats kinda a waste of money to put HID's in those projectors, and then retrofit real projectors into and having to buy a completely different set of HID's to install.

You can't just put any HID in any headlight or fog light socket. Its like putting the Square block inside the circle! Not going to work! So just save yourself the trouble, and do the retrofit right and be done with it. Its easy and there is a billion and 1 threads about it if you know how to press the search button.

I've done a few, AZDAVE has done a few, there are tons of others on here that have done a retrofit.

if you want quality lighting with or with out hid, then the best bet is to buy a decent set of aftermarket or stock headlights and remove the outter lenses and do a retrofit. then your options are to find OEM projector units from a lex, merc, gm, mazda, bmw, saab, audi. with this route you could go bi-xenon high/low units(1 unit per headlight) or seperate high and low projector units(2 units per headlight).most oem units will require headlight housing modification to fit and aim properly*

or you can go with a company called retrosolutions.com has full compact bixenon hid nocut projector units, with built in halos of your choice. ballasts and bulbs included lifetime warranty also. $400 i believe. no housing modifications needed!

i run mazda6 main units in my talon with with hyper white coldcathode halos(see avatar), and lexus sc400 units as low beams in my cav.

Ok so I just got off that website retrosolutions.com. So if I spend 300 bucks and get the 9005/9006 DIY projector system kit, I can install it in oem/ebay headlights? How hard will it be to install the kit? Will I be able to put that kit into these headlights at CARiD.com - Car & Truck Accessories If so, then thats the route I wanna take.

You can't use HID's on cheap plastic projectors, (the ones that say "these lights are cheap and made in china so don't use hid's" ) but if you have decent glass projectors and aim them right (like mine) they look great and perform well without too much glare.

What kind of projectors do you have? I want hid's but i wanna do it the right way. Whats the easiest (less fabrication) way to do this?

Ok so I called CARiD.com - Car & Truck Accessories and they not only said you can use hid's with thier projector lights, but that they recommend it. Has anyone bought any of those projector lights? If so give me some feedback......worse come the worse I'll get the headlights and just put in the DIY projector system kit thats on retrosolutions.com.
