Ok, I have limited, very limited knowledge of trannies, so please bear with me.
OK Its the night before a big autoX invitational and Im on my way to a campground. Well everything is just fine im pumped for the next day. Im at a light, light turns green, i go 1st  ............. 2nd  .................. 3rd  ............ OMG uh oh, OMG clutch pedal has the resistance of less than that of the gas pedal.....i forgot ok i read the probs with DSMS and i think i remember somethin like this turn it off, and back on no first, I slam myself into my seat pushin the pedal into the floor about to go through it and it slips in to first but try to got to second, no salami. i tried the same thing by turning it off and back on. slaming the clutch...nothing its stuck in neutral and will not go into any gear...! What is the matter with it....throwout bearing, bad clutch(stock-and i drive the piss out of it), flywheel...can someone help me...and Does anyone know where i can find instructions on how to remove the 420a tranny...while im up there im putting in a six pucker, and a lightend flywheel...never done this but I gotta learn...Please help if you can :dsm:

Can you get it into gear with the engine off? I would check your fluid level in your clutch reservoir. Check it and see if it is low. If its low you will need to bleed the clutch system to get rid of the air.

I'd think twice about the pucked clutch. Some of them tend to eat at your flywheel pretty badly. Mine was pretty bad when I replaced the flywheel and clutch. They also tend to chatter alot.

ok im thinkin twice...thanks that changes my mind...what should i go with that will last me a long time?
yah the resivior is empty and i can shift with the engine off
Did I do any damage do you think?

I refilled the resivoir and the clutch piece on the outside of the tranny seems like it is not moving nearly as far as it usually is... Do I need a new clutch?

You need to check you clutch fork. Chances are you broke it. Or possibly your pivot ball for the fork has broken. Sounds like the most likely problem to me as it wasn't gradual loss of clutch but almost instant.

Your clutch resevoir ran empty on you, well what does that tell you? You have a leak in the hydraulic system.

Check the following
Clutch master cylinder for leakage - seal can go bad
Clutch hard line for leakage - could get rubbed and get hole in the line
Clutch slave cylinder for leakage - seal can go bad

First check for visable leaks around the hydraulic system then report back :toobad:

If the reservoir ran dry, then the first thing to do is bleed the system. This is surprisingly time-consuming. While under there, clear everything up. Then look for leaks.

As a may or may not have said I am no good in the drivetrain field...So my question is do i have to take out the tranny to check the clutch fork and ball joint? And how much do you think it will run me to get it fixed? Thanks for all of your help, Joe!

Ok there is a leak around the piece where you bleed the clutch...i suppose it is called the slave cylinder.......now what

On the master cylinder where is that seal that you are talking about? I called the Mitsubishi dealership today and he said that it could be the master cylinder.
I also bled the clutch last night and the fluid was being sucked out of the cylinder like crazy. I had my sister put in the clutch and let go and just that sucked out like 1/3 of the fluid...Is that normal?

Im not to keen on the 2g 420A, but The clutch master seal should be up under the dash like a 4g63 or any other car. Heres a good link http://www.plymouthlaser.com/masterc.htm

Get up under the dash and pull the rubber boot back on the Clutch master cylinder, (Not the brake master cylinder on the left) If theres any wet black gooy stuff it needs replacing, same goes for the clutch slave if you haven't replaced it or check it yet.

GOT IT...WHEN I HAD MY LITTLE SISTER DO IT SHE SAID THAT SHE DIDNT FEEL THE PEDAL GET STIFFER...SHE IS 11. WELL CAME HOME FROM WORK HAD DISCONNECT THE RESIVOIR AND THEN DECIDED TO TRY IT FOR MY SELF...AND VUALA...IT WAS BACK TOOK HER IN AND OUT OF THE GARAGE AND IT WAS FINE...ALL IT NEEDED WAS A GOOD OLD BLEEDIN'!!!!!!!!!!! :toobad: :thumb:
