alright so long story short, i bought a project 1995 GS-T from a shady guy. Had to put a new tranny in and finally starter her up. Now she's surging at idol from about 1500 to 2000. I'm thinking it has something to do with the air flow sensor. I notice that my boost gauge is reading 12-15 on the vacuum side (changes with RPM) and i notice that the aftermarket BOV that came with it is open (also closes down with RPM). When it does get to or below 1000 it runs like crap. I've picked up the factory service manuals and I've been going through and checking things but i don't seem to be getting anywhere. any advise would be wonderful. thanks!

~Brian

ps. also if anyone knows how to adjust the shifter cables please let me know.

Like nfernotalon said, recirculate the BOV. Thats more than likely cuasing the surge and low vacuum reading. Also, 2g's dont have shifter cable adjusters like the 1g's.

+ 1 on the boost leak.

You may also want to test your isc motor the manual tells you how to check it and there are many threads explaining how to check it.

Not so fast my friend. He has a 2g. Just a little different. No adjustment links like us cool 1g's. :thumb: Read my post before for advice.

Do you have a picture of the engine bay? If not thats ok. Basically, you need to connect the BOV to the intake of the turbo.

thats what i thought you were talking about. Unfortunately the BOV the guy put on doesn't have an output for that. it just opens and closes into the atmosphere. right now i have the recirculation hole plugged. i tried removing it and it did drop the idle down but it was still surging.
i attached some pics. do you think if i go get another bov with a dump gate it will fix the problem?

You will either have to weld on a new adapter to go to the 1g BOV, which i suggest. Or get a Maf translator like me and get a new intake. Basically, the translator will lie to the computer where the air goes, and adjusts the fuel accordingly. I like the translator, because i can blow off and my car runs smooth. The translator will cost you more though.

You are going to want one of those either way, unless you go with dsmlink, or aem ems, ecuplus, or any of the other ones. But those all require laptops.

yea you NEED to to get a recirc BOV, the 1g works fine, if recirc the BOV dont work, its probably your ISC surging

alright. if i wasn't going to go 1g got any recommendations? also what is the ISC that people are talking about "Idle Speed Controller" maybe?

also I checked and i have an EPROM so what would anyone recommend for tuning?

Go 1g BOV. You can get them cheap, and they work much better than a 2g. Trust me.

okay so i'll go with the 1g bov but i've been looking online and whats the deal with the crushing?

Its the easy way out of keeping the 1g of holding more boost. Its crushes the spring and doesn't let the spring expand at higher boost and let off air. Search dodge garage mod. Its the correct way of making the 1g hold up 30 psi or even more. Crushing is the same way Greddy's old Type S had an adjustment screw on top to tighten or loosen the spring. The problem with that, is you can cause bov flutter, or even compressor surge.
