Dear DSMer,

I am that serious my car is haunted... if people aware of my post, I have a friend replaced my alternator and fuel pump... and plus external wire and makes it work. It runs and it pulls and I was happy, but it was running on my friend's battery. I parked my car and gave him his battery back. Next day I went and got a new battery, happily put it in the car... But it only click... not even turning over, and it was only 1 day after it runs...

Bad thing is two days later, which is today, I go and see if the car will mysteriously working, and you know what, the battery is completely drain... no juice at all. I have not leave a single light on. What is wrong, why it is not working!! Can someone in my area be kind and take a look for me? I total spent $1600 to fix it and it is not working... $1000 go to a local repair shop to replace the clutch and the ECU... die 3 month after it... $400 for a brother of my friend for the fuel pump and make it work... $200 goes to a stupid friend that did nothing...

I am dying to have my car running... please tell me why my car is acting like this, what is taking my juice out of my battery?

My car... is really haunted... still...
Did I mention that my fuel gauge is not working plus fuel light in on...
ok I found out all of a sudden my turn signal is not working, but the hazard light is working
it was working the other day...
along with my windshield wiper is not working...

1. Cut it with the ... "my car is haunted"... crap. No one here believes you, nor will they ever.
2. Somewhere, something is short circuiting. Maybe a mouse got into the car while it sat. (I assume it sat since you didn't have current tags.) Look around.
3. Get your "buddy" to show you every wire that he touched. Then make sure they aren't messed up.
4. Check the voltage that the altenator puts out while the car is running.
5. Your car is 19 years old, a wire somewhere may have bit the dust.

But most importantly...stop saying your car is haunted! You aren't getting anything accomplished using that excuse.

You dont have to use the digital multimeter, you can use a test light and accomplish the say thing. But if you dont have money for a battery charger, you probably dont have money for a dsm. Mine is tempermentel, expensive parts, and outruns corvettes when it stays running.
To test with the test light use the same method
1)
Disconnect battery, positive or negative it dont matter
2)
Place test light in line between battery cable and battery post.
3)
The light will light up, and after two to five minutes the light should dim out
4)
After 5 minutes if the light is still bright, start pulling fuses out form under the hood(1FUSE AT A TIME) then the fuses under the dash(1 AT A TIME)
5)
After you pull a fuse go look at the light(the light represents the drain when connected)
when the circuit in question draining you battery is disconnected the light will go out instantly.
6)
You have to wait the two to five mintues intially because thats how long it takes for the computer to go to sleep. Yes the computer does go into sleep mode.
This is a basic test for measuring dark current/and finding drains/shorts in the electrical system.

i am sorry that I said the car is haunted... but I just feel like it is...
ok it is a one owner car from my cousin... never race, stock...
frist 2 days i have it... clutch is out... and ECU need to be replaced...
then I found out it only run 12 mpg local... I told a local auto shop...
he said my compression is ok... I donno if he really did that...
full tune up does not help at all...
then fuel pump die... then alternator...
then draining battery...
now i don even know if it still drains the battery... and I am going to take my time check it.
last friday, I just had my car running... again after 8 month or so, all the turn signal and windshield wiper was working... now it doesn't... fuel gauge is not working...
my A/C is not working... my Heater is not working...

so supposely only my enginee is working... but i don't think it put strong enough...
because my roomates 99 corolla can catch up with me when I am pushing my gas paddle all the way down...

come on... either I am bad luck with car or it is a haunted car...
well I will cut it out... but still... I just feel bad that I have a car like this...

So the fuel sender... would it be a possibility that mounted or connected backward?
so that the more gas I put in the brighter the fuel light is?
because when it is a bit low on gas... fuel light is dimmer and when I put $20 gas...
the fuel light became very bright!!

That sounds like a parasitic drain. Something is drawing current when the car is shut off. I learned how to check for this in auto tech class at college, however its been awhile since i did it sorry. I have an idea on how to check for it but ill check my papers and notes at class tomorrow and get back to you. Dont wanna tell you how to do it the wrong way

I do have a lots of problem...
so it is not haunted. but anybody can help?
Read all the reply and see what is going on with my car
and give me some answer..
