I Have a 95 Talon Tsi FWD with a 6 bolt swap and 14b, the day i got it a coolant line blew and I didnt know and it is my 1st sporty car so i overheated it and kept trying to start it. We replaced the line and I got it started and it wouldnt go over 3000rpm Huge billowing clouds of smoke kept coming out my exhaust. I got it home and parked it and it never started after. Soon we figured out i blew the head gasket so i took this advantage to get the head fully redone and replaced and the head gasket replaced. Now the car still wont start and when it did the smoke still came out. Now its got super low compression like 30's to 50's and it wont start. I know the timing is right and i understand a little about these cars so any advice will help. My buddy is a huge DSMer so anything i dont get he can explain. Thanks.

diick i told you that stupid shop you brought it to ####ed the head upon reinstall, they said they had the timing 180 degrees off which means the head is completely F*****. theres your problem. when i did the head rebuild and gasket install for the car it started right up and ran but due to some errors on both our parts mostly his LOL we jumped timing nad i knew right away valves were bent so he took it to a shop. the shop is now trying to tell him its the lower end but i checked everything over on it when i had the head off and it was perfect, plus it ran for that little bit there. i made sure he didnt run it for long after he overheated it and got it started again because i knew right away that the headgasket was gone and possibly head cracked. i pulled the dipstick adn it was half coolant half oil so i knew right there and it wasnt run anymore so it wasnt run long enough to spin a bearing plus it still turns over fine so:mad:

Im not sure whats up with that 2nd post, but if the pieces he throws together are correct, that entire engine sounds shot.

i worked on it the first time, doing the headgasket install. at that time the lower end was perfect, and it ran for a brief moment before it jumped timing and bent the valves, which was due to error on my friend who owns the cars part.

dont flame him for this but i was under the hood and he was cranking it over and we had obviously just got the head redone which was all stiff and unbroke in at all and he decided to floor it revving it up so high i could hear the turbo boosting while free revvingOMGwhich with absolutely no oil in the head made the t-belt slip and bend the valves

Compression in the 30 to 50psi range is more than weird, it's real bad. A tea spoon of oil in one of the spark plug holes will tell you if it's your rings that got fried during the overheat. If the compression doesn't go up 100psi or more, then your head or the head gasket has been damaged. Also called a wet compression test.

according to the shop they tried it and it didnt change which says to me bad head but of course they know it all and it has to be the lower end

Ya Idk what else i want to do, Ive been thinking about ripping that engine out and turning it into the 2.3 stroker engine. Right now I'm just trying not to want to blow the d*** thing up. I love the car but the work is ticking me off. I know in the end i want it to run low 11's at the slowest so it breaking down is a good opp. to port and polish and get the stroker kit put in.

Is it holding the 30-50 lbs compression or is it bleeding down? Sounds to me like you need to get help from a real tech. Something bad happened and you need too figure out what the root cause is, fix it, then make a new plan.

im not positive of the details of the comp test because i hate mechanics theyre all assholes that think they know everything, but im pretty sure it was a steady 30-50 but seeing as how they said they had the timing 180 degrees off to start with i think the head is junk again and they need to redo it
