Wats up guys, Man this is getting so annoying. I start driving my 2g gsx with a 6 bolt swap everything is nice and normal then out of no where the car starts to feel like its running on 3 cynliders. The check engine light was on so I clear all the codes. Once I did that she was running better but 15 mins later it started again.

I checked and changed:
a) spark plugs
b)ignitor
c) coil pack
d) ECU

Idk ### it is just got it tuned thinking it was the tune but it wasnt still happening. It will normally start happening on the highway over 4000 rpm.

Help me out please

This is common with 6 bolt swaps. It's a random misfire and there are a few ways to go about solving it.

Some people have said using a '93-'94 (black top Hall effect) CAS will get rid of it. But there's not been enough success for me to recommend it.

The next way is to install a potentiometer. Read page 10 of this document for instructions.

The final way (and guaranteed way) is to purchase ECMlink. With this logger/tuner, you have the ability to tell the ECU what codes to look for and which to ignore. One of the check boxes is Cylinder Misfire. All you would do is uncheck the box and no more problems.

You have a '95, so you might have an EPROM ECU, which is required to run ECMlink. Here's how to check. Please disconnect your battery before removing the ECU, which is behind the radio. To access it, remove the two side panels in the foot well area around the center console. Then there are three bolts holding it in - one from the passenger side and two from the driver side.

If you were to purchase this, it would replace your SAFC.

DSMChips.com also remove the Random Misfire MIL. Check next time to verify that its code P0300 you are getting. Most auto parts places will pull the code for free.

Sorry to kind of change the subject but I'm in need of fixing my misfire! I have the engine code P0302, which is cylinder two misfire. Not random. Is this basically the same problem? The DSMLink would fix my misfire also? Or are we talking about a whole different way of getting this fixed? I'm also on a 6 bolt motor in a 2g 1996.
