Hey,

A few weeks ago...I saw in the local paper a 1990 Eclipse GST. Not the AWD I've been looking for, but I decided to take a look at it anyways. Really liked it a lot-Well taken care of and the price was cheap. I rushed into it and decided to buy it and I'm 100% satisfied and glad I did....of course I'd still rather have an AWD....but this will have to do.

I got it for $600! Couldnt pass it up. Needed about $300 worth of work to pass inspection-Exhaust manifold, CV boots, etc...

So $900 later, I had a awesome running 145k mile 1g turbo-Not bad! 140-145 Compression straight across. Runs awesome and very strong. Done the basic mods-3in exhaust, downpipe, high flow cat, k&n, mbc, boost guage, a/f guage, evo manifold, etc...

Also decided to do some interior mods: redline goods leather shift and brake boots, evo shift knob, evo recaro seats(only the drivers side is bolted in right now...waiting for rails/bracket for passenger side), sparco steering wheel, sparco 3pt harness, and 17in wheels/tires.
I also went to maaco and got them to paint it...they did the $500 paintjob for me and only charged me $270...lady told me she gave me the military discount :thumb:

I've been in contact with Slowboy Racing...lookin to get some serious mods down for this daily driver. So, hopefully in a month everything will be done and it will be a monster daily driver!

Here are the pics!

i really like that alot, looks nice nice find....the rims and the color make it kind of look like the shepracing gsx.... :thumb:

Thanks for the comments guys....
BTW...reddsm00...sorry to hear about your car and what the shop did to it. I'd tell them your gonna have your lawyer sue them if they dont fix the car...having one call would be a plus...good luck with that

thank you vey much...yeah im having alot of legal matters come down with theis car and i have only owned it for like 3 months...the other thing is the kids who i trusted replaced the timing belt and balance belt, but never put on the balence belt...recked the valve and pistons and cost me 1900 bucks and now they wont return my phone calls trying to get the money back...ohh man  ....but im happy to see the car you just got...seems from the pictures its running better then mine LOL.....

Very very nice... although it seems to me that it is in dire need of dropping, especially from that back pic. I'm in love with that paint job too, I want one so bad!!! My black is so shotty, it's got paint drops all over the front and the dumbasses painted over the weatherstripping :barf: . As for the rims, I'm not a real fan of the style, but the coloring is on the right track. :thumb: Good luck with the modifying!

Nice short throw! Anyone know where I can get one of those shifters? Nice rims, seats, paint and overall cleanness. :thumb: Hopefully you can get that thing on the streets soon.

Thanks again for the comments...
Oh don't worry...it will be dropped-springs are in my next batch of mods to be done this month.

Yea...Im suprised maaco did a real good job :thumb: Better then I expected. They have a painting package for like $220 too...so check them out!

For the knob...just go over to evolutionm.net and I saw a couple different people selling their evo knobs...shouldnt be hard to find. I love it with the redline goods boots!

If anyones interested in any rims or even tires(that discount tire direct sells)...go ahead and PM/Email/IM me...May be able to hook you up from someone I know ;)

Thanks :dsm:

Nice ass 1g! One of the nicest fwd's ive ever seen. Im definitely lovin the interior, but i didnt think evo seats would fit in 1g's. I was just wondering, where did you get the seats and how much were they?Hit me up,id love to find a pair of those.

you've put a lot into that in a short period of time
very very nice

i'm very interested in the paint though.. wow.. $270???

is there anything wrong with the paint? i can't see anything wrong in the pics.
did you do the prep work yourself? or no?

i might have to drive to marco just for the cheap paint job.. haha

it's like 900 for paint if you do your own prep work around here... :(

The rims are MB Motorsport Weapon 17x7 Wheels from Discount Tire.

Evo seats in a 1g was actually more of a pain then I knew it would be. I got them from someone who wrecked their evo...so the price of the seats weren't expensive and I ordered the eclipse brackets. Well the eclipse brackets wont bolt right up to the evo slider rails...so you need to order recaro sliders as well.
The fitment of the seats insnt all that great as well...but i'm working on that part.

I love the way they look in the car and I am going to get them to look exactly how I want them too....just gonna take some time and a little more modifying of the seat brackets.
But...if you want evo seats...I just went to evolutionm.net and searched around for them...you'll find a few people selling them. If I were to do it all over again...I wouldnt have picked evo seats just because they dont fit real good right from the begining...just ok and you have to do the rest to get them to fit good.

Yea...I recently got it and already have done a lot...LOL
I actually had money set aside to buy "a car"....Since the eclipse didnt cost all that much...I used some of the extra set aside money to make it look better.
But yea...maaco only charged me $270. That included prep work from them. This normally was their $500 paint package.
Nothing wrong with the paint...looks good...comes with a 2 year warranty too.
I think Maacos are independently owned...so some may do better jobs then others.

Just to tell you a little story...
I took the car to maaco...I showed them the car...had a dent here and there....asked them how much to fix the whole car and paint it....they came back with an estimate of $830
Took it to a real pro body shop...asked them the same thing...he told me $3500 OMG

I dont doubt the pro body shop would have done a much better job but i'm not spending that much!

If your really interested in Maaco...go to the local one and see the cars that come out. Judge from their cars how well of a job they do

Good luck...and thank you to everyone for posting their comments

so did they fix the dents for you? did that cost more than the 270? because i have 2 deep dents that i want fixed as well....

i just checked their site.. there is one 98 miles from me.. but perhaps it's worth it

i wonder how much extra it would be for them to paint my stock swirlies while they're at it :p..

yea i checked evolutionm.net, and found a few that were very expensive, but i knew they would be. So i looked on ebay and found a used pair that came with rear seats also that were still in pretty good condition for only like, $520 i think it was? I was just wondering how much did you pay for yours?

No, the $270 didnt include fixing the dents. They arent huge dents...you cant see them in the pics...up close you can.
98 miles! OMG wow. I guess if your around that area then it wouldnt be a bad idea to get a free estimate. Im *guessing* they would charge anywhere from 100-250 per dent dependin how bad it is. Good luck with it.

Fronts and rear evo recaros for $520 is an awesome price...but I paid $375 for mine-I knew the person who had his evo wrecked. I bought my shift knob from evolutionm.net and looked ther to buy seats and saw them selling for $500-600ish. I was really thinking about it but wasnt sure...then my friend told me about his evo...so I bought his.

Remember you also need eclipse brackets for recaros and recaro slider tab rails-Which I didnt know until after I bought them  . Wedge Engineering in CA sells the rails and brackets but that was like an extra $200 in parts :thumbdown . And still the fitment isnt the best.
But maybe custom made brackets would be better then the normal recaro eclipse brackets....just an idea....that would make them prob fit perfect. I'd love to do that but dont want to shell out another $100 or more for these seats!
